  • Boyd Cordner had a good game!

Had a top game yesterday - thought he was our best.

Very encouraging to see a young guy ap the ante against tougher opposition. Wasnt his fault he got scammed with a couple of obstruction plays.

Good attack and defence - he's a winner.

(Oh and even though Im not a big Tommy S fan thought he had a good dig too).

Tom Symonds is an old fashioned lock who likes to hit holes.

Unfortunately there are few playmakers who know how to put players through holes these days.

He is suffering as a result.

I'm sure there's someone up at Waverley Oval that can help us. Stsae, is your brother still running around?!

      No he never.

Cordner is not ready to play as a starting backrower, he actually needs more time at Newtown.

      And I highly rate him.

Lol, he'd almost go better than Bwaiff, sadly.

Who - if anyone, would you rate above Cordner in yesterdays game?

Maybe it was because I havn't seen him play for so long but I thought Symonds was our best.

Yeah lets leave them all at Newtown and Under 20's.
A few years back my sister and I bought our mother a beautiful dinner service. This year we celebrated Christmas there. They whole family which does not happen often. We we arrived we noticed that she had a variety of old plates rather than the ones we bought her. Curious, we asked why she was not using the ones we bought. We got a very woggy response that she was saving those for a special occasion.

I am starting to feel that Moga and a few others fall into this category. Cordener has gone a great job. Let him grow with experience. Player like this need exposure to quality opposition.

I thought they played well too, we should play them both its a write off year a good time for them to gain experience.

Like I have said many times I highly rate Cordner but he is not quite ready he needs to put on at least another 5 kg.

The guy is only 19 & my suggestion is only for this year, bit more Newtown put on 5kg & get a bit bigger & stronger play some FG because others are injured & hopefully have him tough ready for FG next year.

Aubusson should always be in the backrow with ??? I would go with Symonds
Guerra: I dont think he is good enough.
Cordner: I think he is still not ready
Takairangi: Maybe but I like him coming off the bench.
Bosden: I would like to see them give him a go.
Anasta: Something has to give in the halves so maybe Anasta to the backrow.

I actually think FPN is playing well whilst he is on the field so I would leave him at lock. Smith is using him wrongly IMO.

I thought he had a good 1st half..the second half to me was a blur until I switched off in rage.
For those saying that he isn't ready, who are we going to replace him with? All these young guys have a good game when we want them in there until he has a bad game when we then don't want him in there. It's a sign of immaturity that they can't be consistent but replacing him is not an option when we're the youngest team in the comp, well as far as forwards go. I say he is good and backs himself to try something new, like a grubber kick yesterday and in the 1st game.
I would say the one disappointing player upto now, for me, is BJ Leilua. Not sure where he's head is ATM.

I didn't think Symonds was that bad, but I can say that I much prefer our right side when it's Pearce - Aubusson - SKD - Perrett

I think that is just me.

The guy is 19 it's to young when you are not big enough or tough enough. Symonds IMO is better & he has more experience.
I definately see Cordner playing FG for a long time I believe he will become an Australian player but from my observations this year he just isnt quite there. Coming of the bench I would agree with.

I don't know about right now but I would like to see his head out of the backline and into the 2nd row in the not at all distant future. The lack of pace (among other things) is stifling our backline.

Thats the biggest dumb arse thing Smith keeps doing wrong moving our best backrower out to the centres.
