  • To win the comp

For me its 12 games on the trot.

    Dragons win
    Knights win
    Manly win
    Broncos win
    Cowboys win
    Tigers
    Storm
    Souths
    Qualifying & elimination
    Semi Final
    Preliminary Final
    Grand Final.

The Chooks can only win the comp if they win every game. 1 loss & its over.
The Roosters have a good enough team (as long as no more injuries) to continue winning.

If we lose one of the next 3 then we make the semis.

But agree if we lose one after the Souths game then it's over.

Knowing our season we'll only lose one more game - to the Tigers.

Think we can drop one of the next three games, and still win the comp. Not quite that cut-throat. The teams vying for those spots all play each other.

There will be four other teams who won’t be able to afford a loss in the first round come sept.

Very real possibility we will play Souths back to back. It's not a fixture that's been very kind to us over the last few years.

History says with a Trent Robinson team the Roosters dropping games leading in to the finals is a good thing and long winning streaks aren't always a good thing

In 2013 Roosters went on a 8 game winning streak before losing twice in round 24 and round 25
in 2014 Roosters went on a 6 game winning streak before losing in week 1 of the finals
in 2015 Roosters went on a 12 game winning streak before losing in week 1 of the finals
in 2017 Roosters won 7 of their last 9 games before losing the prelim final
in 2018 Roosters won 9 out of 10 games before losing in round 23 and 24
in 2019 Roosters went on a 7 game winning streak before losing in round 25

There's different circumstance for each season and all of them had the Roosters in the top 2 positions but sometimes losing a game or two in the build up to the finals is not a bad thing I think you will find Melbourne might have a similar record in their dominance

                  2019.
Lost to Souths in last round. Beat them 30-6 following week.

Equally we could have a home game against the Drongos or Eels.

                      My prediction...

                      Qualifying - Easts v Drongos

                      Semi-final - Easts v Gummies

Preliminary final - Easts v Drizz

                      GF - Easts v Eels

I listened to the Cowboys game on ABC radio and John Gibbs said we dominated when JWH and Lodge were on the field, but when they went off after 30 minutes the Cowboys got back into the game.
Similar sentiments from Robbo in the presser in that we seemed to lose our way, and were not ruthless enough.
I reckon the 4 pronged prop rotation JWH, Lodge, SST and Collins hold the key to our premiership hopes.
Arguably, these 4 are the better than any other combination in the NRL.
Lodge has been the missing piece in the jigsaw puzzle.
The rest of the Roosters team, behind the front rowers, have enough class to score the points, and bring the chocolates home.
If the Roosters make the semis and we have a fully fit team, look out.

Have to make the finals first and it is one game at a time - dangerous to be getting so far ahead as they have a few things to fix in their game including being an 80 minute performance team.

It's interesting that I keep hearing we're not an 80-minute team. Who genuinely beats teams like the Cowboys and the Broncos for 80-minutes straight? Momentum always ebbs and flows, and the best teams just limit the amount of damage they take when the other side has that momentum.

The Chooks are humming, but the biggest tests are still yet to come. I wonder if we'll consider resting anyone if it comes to round 25 and we can't improve our standing at all.
I've been preaching about it for weeks, but Collins and Tauks coming into this side is very ominous for other teams. No other front row rotation even comes close to their combined level.

The Roosters are well and truly in the hunt for this comp, and there's not much more you can ask as a fan than that.
I'll be interested to see if we can maintain our physicality for all of the remaining games. I imagine we'll play a little bit less physically against the Tigers. You can't take any side easily, but you also can't treat that game like a grand final, to be honest.
