The Roosters will be the first Club to win the Premiership from outside the Top Four......

    Hopefully.
If all our players running around now stay fit then who knows.
Week at a time, we just have to get over the Tigers.

TBH finishing outside the top-4 is sometimes a blessing because you don't HAVE to play a top-4 team in week 1 of the finals. Also, you can end-up playing your grand final in the preliminaries.

        Two examples...

        - 2010 we finished 6 and were a shyte team with a Dally M half absolutely carving up. We were BEATING a pretty much undefeated Merge outfit at half-time... then the bloody ref allowed a 'try' when the passer was 1m in touch and the cards fell. We've got within 40 minutes of doing it with (no offence) an shyte team when compared with what we have today. I have personal grief with those players but side-by-side, our 2022 team is sooo much stronger than the 2010 team that almost won a GF from 6th.

        - 2014 Souffs got an eeeeeeasy premiership against the Doggies of all teams (completely under-cooked and unexpected). Why? We screwed up against the Riff and ended up playing Souffs the the preliminary. If the Doggies weren't complete shyte, they coulda had a free premiership against a beaten-up Souffs who had already played their GF.

        - 2021 the Riff choked against Souffs, NARROWLY beat the Eels, NARROWLY beat Melbourne and then NARROWLY beat Souffs (again). If we didn't have so many darn injuries then that woulda been our premiership IMO. With a team including B-Moz, J-Moz, Manu, Suaalii, Cords, Friend, Collins, JWH, Rads, Verrills...etc (I can't even remember how many were out), we wouldn't have had so many shyte losses. It was a true case of bad luck!

        - 2022? We've shaken off the cobwebs and don't have all those injuries. I don't think coming 5-8 makes the cards any more stacked against you than coming 1-4. You don't NEED the 'week off' to win a premiership (that's been proven) and IMO you can end-up with a very good run so long as you keep winning your games.

I thought we were outside the top four in 2002?

F#ck mate go on with some shit all your examples we lost. One of your examples you quote Penrith finishing first as a not so good thing and they won. Seriously your a lawyer - I presume that means you need to make valid arguments.....

If any team can do it, it's us.
                But..one at a time.

Canterbury already did this in 1995

4th, but I think it was the old top 8 system where 1 played 8, 2 v 7 and so on.

Spot on milanja. Top four was New Zealand (1), Newcastle (2), Brisbane (3) and Roosters (4).

NZ and Bris both won so had the next week off. Roosters then went on to beat Newcastle, Brisbane and of course NZ in the GF.

People think that no team outside the top 4 wins because the system favours the top 4 so much.

The truth is; teams don’t win outside the top 4 because they’re usually not very good teams, and are inconsistent.

True, and with the system they have in place now, it can be argued that sometimes it is better to finish 5th or 6th rather than 3rd or 4th.

We will know where we stand when we play the Storm and Souffs.

I can't believe Brisbane and Nth Qld have been or are in the top 4. We thrashed both in 3rd gear.

Anyone who argues that 5th or 6th is better than top 4 doesn't know what they are talking about, look at the prelims for the last 10 years:

                              2012 - all top 4
                              2013 - 3/4
                              2014 - 3/4
                              2015 - all top 4
                              2016 - all top 4
                              2017 - 3/4
                              2018 - all top 4
                              2019 - all top 4
                              2020 - 2/4
                              2021 - all top 4

A top 4 team has gone out in straight sets 5 times in the last decade, having a second chance with a second week home ground advantage is a big deal
