Just saw the interview and the reporter asked "You weren't tempted to leave" then Angus responded "nah not at all".

Angus also stated "I just don't wanna play for any other team".

Crichton couldn't resign before Verrils was formally released from the remaining few years of his contract. He was never going to leave, and the chooks had a handshake deal in place for a long time.
