We are all aware of a cut but he has been one of our best forwards and current SOO player so I'd be surprised if he is on less than $600K which is not significant. But I don't have a friend who is a friend of a board member who happened to tell someone of a player's salary and then passed that confidential information on to all his friends. I'll wait for Buzz.
BTW was this the friend who told you SST would not be with us this year?
Question my credibility all you like. I really don't care.

Trust your info as I do a few others.
Just playing you like you like to play others.
But as I said, he is playing well and is a current SOO player. He deserves a good wicket imo and happy he is staying even if it is for just a little less just to keep the team together.

The club will have to put a lot of work in to turn him around to a team first, me second mentality.

Harry Grant played 70 on the weekend and Smith played 71. I know QLD won Origin and Harry's now an established player (totally not saying he's shyte) but I feel like he was picked as a specialist #9 (and I'd say future captain of the club) while Brandon's been begged to play big minutes alongside him as a bit of a coach/mentor the whole way.
My opinion is that Cheese has more mongrel in him and will combine well with the likes of JWH, Lodge, Radley and Walker. We have enough playmakers and need Cheese as a heads up ball runner whose physique makes him almost impossible to tackle. Whereas I think the Drizz know Munster's a bit of a loose cannon (when compared with Keary/Walker), who needs a Harry Grant to compliment him in the spine.
Either way, Harry Grant's not on the market for us... Cheese came knocking and took unders as his buy-in to our system (coulda made miiint elsewhere). Whatever the Titans are paying Verrills (I'd be guessing maybe $700k+), I don't think we could justify that sort of an upgrade. I don't even know if we're paying more for Cheese than they are for Verrills... I assume we are but not necessarily!

At a meeting of all club chairpersons on the eve of the State of Origin series opener in Sydney it was revealed the NRL is preparing to lift the salary cap to $10.5 million in 2023, and raise it incrementally each year during the next broadcast cycle.
The Broadcast Cycle 2023 to 2027 - The NRL have announced that revenue from the game's three broadcast partners - Nine, Fox Sports and Sky NZ - will total more than $400m per annum for five years from 2023 until 2027.

This is welcome news. I think he's a future captain.
