On the Rooster development bashing ...I havent listened to MMM footy all year mainly because of Tallis and his constant Rooster bashing. two weeks ago driving home in the car I put MMM on for the first time this year and the first thing I hear I Tallis going on about the Roosters juniors ..."yeah their junior area is Auckland' etc etc I thought Gallen had improved but obviously not in this regard, so glad Gus put hiom in his place.

As for Sualli, .....heard him refered to as Joseph Tsunami ...I thought was brilliant!

In 3-4 years time he’ll still be 23 and probably close to the highest paid and most sought after player in the nrl, and if the roosters are looking after him as they’re renowned of doing to their loyal players ( Mini, Ricketson, Aubusson, Friend, Cordner etc) he will remain a rooster for life. He’ll be so marketable he wouldn’t want to fix something that isn’t broken. He seems to be a smart level headed individual whose family values are very high, which makes me feel more confident of him staying long term. Few extra $$$ Will nkt be the motivation to lure him away.
The most telling sign for. E was last year when BMoz did his knee and his brother was consoling him, JS was sitting next to them, and the way he was looking at them was a look of saying “ wow what sentiment? I want that kind of love and care when I grow up”.

Historically over the past 50years the Wannabes have had only 2 golden periods and outside of that it’s high risk to switch unless you want to be a loser.
I don't get the " play in a Rugby World Cup" as a reason for a league player to switch. I don't see it as a career highlight to get spat out in a quarter final and the Wallabies are next to no chance of winning it anytime soon.
Any composite all time great Wallaby team would feature players from the 80s to the early 00s and the best athletes in this country are playing cricket, afl and league.
The ones who have played both rugby codes only went on scholarships and have been league players since they were young.
Even SBW who made the switch and got to win world cups with the All Blacks in my mind was a far greater league player than he was a rugby player.

Just watched Gallens' meltdown on 100% footy in regards to our development.
He made himself look really silly, I thought. Just yelling his head off about how we don't develop players.

We seem to be the only club held to this standard of "If the player hasn't been in your system since they were 10, you didn't develop them."
If you pick up a 15, 16, 17-year old etc, and develop them into a first-grade player, that's absolutely a credit to your system and development.
As Gus was saying, kids at that age are not in that same stratosphere as NRL players.

Also very clear that if Suaalii had stayed at Souths and debuted for them, they'd all be touting him as a player Souths have developed, even though he was a Penrith junior.

Wow...with all due respect to the Noosa Pirates, I believe it was the Roosters who turned Jake into an Origin player..Toups was not wanted by stupid stupid Parra..I could go on but it's sunny and lunch time..

What a slap in the face to Trent and all of the assistant coaches (including Paul Green too) and support staff we've had over the years to help deliver 3 premierships..

I was thinking the same. Let RA bankrupt themselves signing him and giving him everything humanly possible for 2 years, then have him come back richer than every other player.

question is if he would come back to us once hes had a taste of the ridiculous money

If you go through Cronulla's 2016 GF team, at least 10 out of their 17 were 'developed' by other clubs. He must be suffering from short term memory loss from all the whacks to the head he's taken. In comparison, our 2019 team had 10 players who made their debut with our club, and two others who had played less then 10 NRL games when they came across to us

The Wallabies still look as though they belong in the amateur era.
However your namesake Johnny Brass had credibility indeed.

Gus was simply explaining how we do well in the junior comps (sharks too no less) even though our junior catchment is small.

Gallen pushing that we gain an unfair advantage by buying "established" 16 year olds.

Lol. No mention of the Broncos throwing around their $5000 scholarships to all and sundry.

Which club even the Panthers haven't done that from time to time.

I'm glad the Roosters don't give a shit (They don't about peptide Paul and I shouldn't either) can you imagine latrell, cords and jazza playing elsewhere?

Funny thing about Gallen I thought when he came on commentary he was a bit softer towards us.

Oh well another on the shitlist. Although it was good listening to Gus while it lasted.
I'd be interested to know which teams have a significant number of players who were developed from aged 7.

Then you have the clubs like Canberra, St George and Canterbury who have had lots of UK imports also over the years despite having big junior bases to draw from..

The Penrith team that beat us in the 2014 semi final only had 2 or 3 Penrith juniors in it with a few ex-Roosters in there

For a 19yr old at 700k, he is already on ridiculous money.

We having been poaching young guns from around Australia and NZ for years. Long may it continue. Nothing stopping other teams doing the same as they all do. Fcuk the haters.

Nothing has changed, we have 11 this week vs 6 for them. Lucky for Gallen he was picked up by Cronulla when his local junior club had no interest in him.
