Let's not kid ourselves, our team has to improve considerably to make the 8, and win any games in the finals.
The boys are playing well, but are still making far too many mistakes.
Good that they've embraced running props at pace at the tryline though.

we're no certainty to make the 8 yet but with penrith understrength we're arguably the form team atm

Poor old Souths they got robbed. lol
Panthers are an awesome footy club with Cleary senior & junior & have major motivation to go back to back & its gonna take a mighty team to get over them IMO.
If the Chooks take it 1 game at a time they have 7 games that they have to win to win the comp. If they get over the Tigers they have to win 6 games to win the comp.
Its farkin achievable & it would be the greatest ever Roosters Premiership. The Chooks were 41 to 1.
Anyway back to reality the Chooks have to get over the Tigers & hopefully not get any injuries or suspensions. The Chooks cannot afford to get any injuries or suspensions to the current team including the return of Collins & SST.

We still are not guaranteed top 8.

          We have Storm and Rabbits

Raiders have Knights, Manly and Tigers.

We are in the best 3 teams in the whole league and the shitty Raiders could steal our finals spot.... it's bizarre.

I think the Rabbits, Roosters and Eels can all beat Penrith,

            .
            Eels lol... no

            It's Penrith, Storm and Roosters.

            Souths half a chance.

We haven't beaten much during this run. The Broncos are done and the Cowboys have had an armchair draw which has inflated their position on the ladder. All the other wins were against bottom feeders.

We've been playing some great attacking footy. It's the errors, especially after scoring, that will get punished by the Storm and Souffs.

At least our fait is in our own hands. We are in control.

It also bothers me that I don't think Souffs or the Storm 'fear' Easts like maybe they once did.

Despite the result last night (and other results this weekend), I still think Canberra will steal our spot in the top 8. And if they do, there needs to be an investigation.

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

The Cows shoulda lost to the Tigpies the other week and were shut-out by the Riff. They haven'g played Souffs yet and won't play the Sharks (who they lost to) or the Drizz a second time. Their last 2 rounds are Souffs (who they haven't played yet) and the Riff. I hope they beat Souffs but am not expecting them to. So...
                      - Drizz once
                      - Souffs once
                      - Sharks once
                      - Eels once

On the upshot they beat the Eels, Faders, Manly and made sure against their games against things like the Doggies, St Choke and the Knights (whereas we didn't).

Dunno what to think about the Cows really. Cotter and McLean are back at the right time. I hope they can beat Souffs but let's see.

We've at least beaten two of the top 4 though (Sharks and Cows). We just stuffed up too many games against weak-gutted teams, so ruled ourselves outta the top-4 by doing so.

If we beat storm and souths we are probably good enough to go the whole way to the GF. Conversely if we can't beat either or both , even if we make the semis, it is likely to be a short lived experience.

It looks unachievable. To effectively win 6 finals games on the trot would seem impossible. Yet there's a sense of destiny about them. Has there ever been a better credentialed team this low in the eight?

It's whether they can withstand the pressure for another 6 weeks, without cracking, mentally.

You think back to Manly in 1978. They had to win 5 sudden death games in 16 days, including a semi final replay and a grand final replay. Let that sink in: 5 games in 16 days. And they did it!

Interesting to hear Corey Parker last night say that he'd been in situations with the Broncos where they've had an easy run into the finals, and where they've had difficult runs into the finals -- and much preferred the latter. He seems effusive about our chances.

As we know, winning one out of next two gets us into finals. In this event, if we lose a close one against Storm or Souffs, it doesn't necessarily stop our momentum.

If we lose both, and limp into finals because raiders lose 1, or broncos lose both of their last 2 games (both quite possible), then the show is over anyway.

Looking at our team on paper and on recent form, I agree with you, there has NEVER been a better credentialled team fighting for a top 8 position, 2 weeks out from the semis.

As for Parker, he is effusive about bloody everything. He's got to yell through his microphone to make sure we all get it.

This is the problem with playing some teams twice and others once, it isn't a true indication of a teams performance.
With the number of teams playing each other twice makes the season too long, play each other once and it is too short.
A conference system doesn't really work either as one conference may have the top 7 sides in it and the other has 1 team that may only just make it if they were in the other side.

Canberra may have an easier draw then us but I don't expect us to drop two games. A for and against is way better then there's which will see us stay in the eight.
