We would sit in the grandstand 2nd tier and would be able to see straight down the field unlike the cheaper seats at ground level where if the play was on the other side of the field you only saw the players from the waist up.

Yeh hardly went - we were only regulars for when the Roosters played games at SCG from 1972 to 1986 including finals - NSWRL/Pre-season comps and finals - mmm google it
I googled it but when I put in Queen Sally it only came up with explicit content not fitting for a site like this.

Using the excuse of the distance between the Southern Highlands and Sydney not to attend games is just pathetic. You could just say that you prefer to watch on TV. Once again, nothing wrong with that. Didn’t you mention you travelled to games? Yet won’t make the short treck from Southern Highlands to support your team? What sort of fan are you? (Assuming you are not elderly or disabled and apologies if you are).
Dig a hole dale you are a funny fellow who must love digging more holes - work out the math 45 years attending games - even 20 games a year is 900 games as a minimum - when the Sydney comp up to 1981 - home and way 22 games plus finals and wills cup/craven mild cup pre season comp games -3 games at least and 4 if they made the final - up to 28 to 29 games some seasons.

Something you would not have seen either - Bob McCarthy in a Roosters jumper when trialing for a contract - pre-season cup - they had to tell him thanks but no thanks - why he might dislike the Roosters perhaps?

1977 Willis Cup Pre-season Final vs Norths -even the Queen and Phil the Greek came to the match - i think they were in a car that drove around the ground (SCG) - Roosters won 13-9

              Grand finals attended - 1972/1974/1975/1980/2000/2002/2003/2004/2010/2013/2018/2019 - 12.

As I said previously after the 2003 GF we went back to the club - put behind a barricade the few of us that were there - the players arrived and brushed us but Ricky Stuart came over and thanked us all and said we were the true supporters.

Short treck!!!! over 1 1/2 hours each way as a minimum for what one game.

We have maintained our Roosters NRL memberships and now Roosters NRLW membership because as Ricky said we are the true supporters

I am sorry I was not able to attend games before I was born.

It’s a shame you don’t attend games anymore. I would love to sit with you and hear some stories from the 60s and 70s. I’m always very interested in the history of our great club.

                  I’m sure Sally did tho.

Probably has stats to prove it as well.

Anyway, I honestly didn’t expect 72 points but enjoyed every single one of them. I just hope we havnt used them all up for the next two games.

I expected 50 and would have gone home disappointed if we couldn’t crack 40 but 70 was really special!

What was it like at the game?

Would love to have come, especially if I was as close as the southern highlands but DC is just a tad too far.

As roosters supporters we do not know what it is like to miss the finals 11 years straight, i salute their fans .

also thought tamou was good in his presser, lost his shit , but who wouldnt captaining that rabble, maybe james without a contract in 23 , would he consider a minimum wage rooster deal , could offer something off the bench ?
tamou spoke well. if it is his last game the send off won't be a stain on his career. he was in the wrong but at least he cares

Speaking of DC, what an awful name the old redskins have been given, commanders??

                            • I can certainly vouch for Thirteen too. We've lived near each other for years and before I got sick, I used to sit near him at games and introduced Jacks Fur Coat to him, so I'm happy they still catch up now and again. Even though we may disagree regarding the womens competition, you could not meet a more polite and respectful human being.

I actually do prefer to watch it on TV. Have never really enjoyed the game day experience, except as novelty. I can't seem to quite get the same feel for how the game is going as what I do on TV. That's probably an artifact of having grown up watching it on TV, year after year. You get used to experiencing it in a certain way. I've been to around 25 games over the years and only walked out a winner on three occasions -- so I'm also a shocking jinx! I live in Tamworth, but even if I lived in Sydney or thereabouts, I doubt I'd attend regularly; it's a big chunk of your day gone. I'm a visual artist as well as writer and publisher, plus I work Monday to Friday at my regular job. Weekends tend to be my time for that other stuff. I'm a passionate Rooster and have been since the mid 70s, but the game day experience is not for everyone.
