  • Another anti-roosters article in the South Sydney Morning Herald

Malcolm Knox is such a knob.

The opening paragraph says it all

    The jealousy/hatred is massive.

I'm glad this bald, ugly, stupid and bitter, pin headed 50 year old virgin loses sleep because we are so freaking awesome.

But really, it's no more biased and full of misinformation than anything else served up by the SMH and ABC. Or "The Guardian".

I love these articles!!! Uncle Nick had a massive job adopting a foundation club with no junior's/ no rugby league footprint !!! Since then our club has been operating like a elite soccer team (barcalona) where we recruit to develop in a very organised ACADEMY !
Recruiting talent on potential to develop into a NRL player has been Nick's in my opinion his best achievement! Beetson became an immortal when he played for the Chooks, teddy got better here too ! The writing's on the wall thanks to uncle

Love them haters ! those who don't look don't learn !

It's just easier to blame Roosters for there management fck ups

          What a genuinely horrendous article.

Weak teams should stop expecting handouts, and should focus on managing their club better.
People had the Cowboys as wooden-spooners at the start of the season - now they're going to finish in the top 4. And because of that, more players are going to want to go there, and are more likely to go there on less money.

The Broncos have all the money in the world, and have been abysmal for several years, and might bomb out of the 8 this year, too.

The reason that the Chooks and Storm have been so insanely dominant isn't because they cheat. It's because they have the two best coaches in the game. It's no surprise that prior to Trent's arrival at Bondi, we were in dire straits.

There is usually one surprise packet club each year who surges into the top 4, or thereabouts, on the back of great coaching, a strong work ethic, and shrewd requirement.

I also fail to see how going out and buying a few key players to bolster your Premiership credentials is a bad thing. How would anyone compete with a team like the Broncos if they couldn't?

As a sidenote, putting multiple "lol's" in your article reads as extremely juvenile.

Possibly the most bitter and juvenile column I've read in a long, long time. It is potentially also defamatory.

What a clown this Knox dweeb is. He never once spoke about the coaching aspect at successful clubs or even their recruitment or post-retirement support processes over extended periods of time.

A friend asked me today why the Roosters were so successful and why isn't there a draft. I don't have an opinion about a draft, but players WILL take a pay cut to go and play for a club that will probably make the semis, develop their game further and possibly get them up to representative level. Would you rather play for Canterbury, Newcastle or Balmain or Easts, Penrith or Melbourne?

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Is anyone a real journalist anymore...

.I did see that this morning but luckily I've used up all my free articles for the month so couldn't get passed the first paragraph which is just awful.

That's little more than someone's blog or diary entry.

              Dear Diary..I hate Easts...

It's because quite often we'll sign a player that another club just can't see the value in..Daniel Tupou for cxample..(stupid stupid Parra) and develop them into thrice time premiership winners...

It comes from the same weak mental space as "it's so unfair that brain surgeons get paid more than bloggers and far left wing journalists like me!! - everything and everyone should be equal!"

a points based system seems pretty arbitrary - who is to decide who the top 25 players are? why can[t players play for the club of their choice?
the salary cap makes the comp more of a level playing field than if there was no salary cap but it's still up to clubs to get their acts together not to mention that excellence is something to be encouraged and populist mediocrity nothing to be proud of

Let me guess - Malcolm Knox is a bald- headed guy with glasses that works for the SMH and got his job there after university.
He never once played Rugby League.
Whilst at university, he had lecturers preach to him the evils of all corporations, the fact that corporations make obscene profits, corporations are responsible for down-trodden workers, wealth is evil, the government is good, communism is good, and all people should be equal, and the wealth should be distributed to everyone equally ( but with the proviso that the Government has the real money) .
I got this same bullshit forced down my throat when I was at Uni & Malcolm Knox sucks these ideas up, and knows that they are right.
As for the Roosters, they are a wealthy club, with a successful and driven coach, who brings about more success for the club.
"You can't have that" writes Malcolm Knox - it is better if all clubs are equal, they are coached by guys like Malcolm Knox (straight out of uni) who are morons and have no clue about football (at least then they are equal) and if all clubs have 2 star players, and the rest of the players are schmucks , it will be an even competition, and the clubs can play each other every week, and all the results of those matches will be drawn games.
But it would be so good to watch, wouldn't it?
Utopia - Malcolm Knox- it would be Utopia.

Such a bitter, cliche-riddled, lazy, inaccurate piece of 'journalism'. It was only a week or so ago that Penrith were revealed to only have about 6 or 7 juniors in their team.

This buffoon hasn't done the research to know that Manu and Suaallii came to us when they were 16 and 17 respectively. I'll give him Teddy. But which club hasn't bought a big name player.

Absolute rubbish. The Fairfax press is as bad if not worse than the Murdoch press.

Knox’s article further proof that there is no decent sports journalists in Australia. I find him creepy just like the ex cricket SMH journo Peter Roebuck and the boof head that wears a bandana.
