Damien Cook to miss tonight and next week

I am curious to know the NRL stance on this. The current rule is 7 days, and it will remain that way when the teams are named. Are Souths permitted to name a player that is not allowed to play?

I will also add I don't particularly want Roosters to win against a weakened side. However, I will be fuming if Cook does play and we are eliminated from the finals because some of our players have contracted the virus from Cook.

I think the concern is that he spoke directly to a footy club to give them the heads up that it would be approved before their game on the weekend.

Given the sensitivity around betting and match fixing it’s behaviour more aligned with underworld figures than prime ministers.

I'm more upset about Covid positive cases being allowed out in the community without any isolation period as Red had mentioned. Yes I know that was a state level, but that's very disturbing.

Fair point! I didn't go into the office post-COVID for an extra week 'just incase' and my boss backed the call.

I get that Cook can't WFH but it's just one more week and both teams are through to the finals. Whether he can or can't play... I think that commonsense is to self-regulate so that nobody's spreading COVID.

That's because you are a thoughtful and mindful person. Some don't care and are very cavalier about the whole thing. Who's to say that Cook or anyone else doesn't spread it to any of the staff or crowd and then the stadium opening turns into a super spreader event. I've still got 2 of my team with Covid and long term side effects and my sister with long covid symptoms after breast cancer. She and her husband picked it up on a Melbourne tram we think despite having every booster under the sun and wearing masks. They usually drive everywhere but it was the one day they took public transport.
