I see he claims he's played his best football at 5/8, but he was playing lock when he won the Dally M Captain of the Year....
Even back when he was at the Dogs Folkes used to shuffle him into lock to accommodate the young Thurston...
While Mortimer's no Thurston, I reckon we've looked sharper when he's come on at 5/8 this year.
Brian apparently thinks otherwise......
I won't miss the kicking out on the full from the kickoffs, but he played well for us in 2010, and I reckon he's been a pretty good captain for us most of the time....

Braith Anasta earmarked for halfback role when he moves to Wests Tigers for 2013 NRL season..
By Andrew Webster The Daily Telegraph March 31, 2012 9:03AM
Braith Anasta will wear the No.7 on his back for Wests Tigers next season after signing at two-year deal believed to be worth $400,000.
Sydney Roosters ended two days of intense speculation about his future when he informed chairman Nick Politis he was leaving in the middle of a reunion of the 2002 premiership-winning side at a lunch in La Perouse.
While there were incorrect claims Anasta will be a direct replacement for the departing Gareth Ellis, it is understood he will partner five-eighth Benji Marshall in the halves.
Anasta went to ground on Friday, but told The Daily Telegraph via text message on Friday night: "I'm sure Sheensy has a clear vision of how he wants me to play regardless of the number of my back."
The deal has been done in the space of just a fortnight, following a meeting three weeks ago at which Politis, coach Brian Smith and chief executive Steve Noyce told Anasta he would have to prove himself if he wanted a contract extension.
With Sonny Bill Williams poised to join the club next season, it was effectively an indirect way of telling him to move on.
Given the nature of the NRL business, Anasta had to act quickly before the salary cap of prospective clubs started to dry up.
South Sydney - where Anasta played his junior footy - reacted angrily to claims they were keen on signing him.
There was speculation that the deal with Wests Tigers was worth $300,000 per season but it is closer to $200,000, with Anasta keen to stay in Sydney to enhance his growing media career with Fox Sports.
"Tim is a really good coach, Braith gets the opportunity to play with Benji and they've got pretty good playing staff so he is pretty happy," Anasta's manager Greg Willett was reported as saying on Friday.
"They made us a pretty good offer, we were happy with it so we just wanted to do it straight away."
Sheens hopes Anasta can solve an ongoing conundrum in the Tigers' halves, which has been difficult to solve since Scott Prince left the club in 2007. So far this season, they have used Tim Moltzen and Jacob Miller.
With hooker and captain Robbie Farah and Marshall such dominant playmakers on the field, the Tigers believe Anasta can be a calming and experienced influence.
"Braith is a very experienced campaigner who continues to perform at the highest level," Tigers chief executive Steve Humphreys said.
"His leadership, professionalism and knowledge of the game will be invaluable to our club."
At the Roosters, news of Anasta's departure has rocked his teammates ahead of Saturday's clash with the Warriors at Allianz Stadium.
He had said on the eve of the season he wanted to be a "Rooster for life", despite the signing of Warriors five-eighth James Maloney from next season onwards.
Despite leaving, sources close to Anasta said he was happy with the decision and felt no bitterness towards the club.
"I look forward to making a big contribution to an already strong and talented playing group under Tim Sheens over the next two years," Anasta said in a statement.
"While I look forward to the challenges ahead, my immediate priority remains focused on this season.
"There's a great young squad here at the Roosters and I have a massive ambition to make 2012 a memorable year for the club. I am incredibly proud to have captained such a special club."

it's only a news article, but the most interesting part is the one where Smithy tells Braith to prove himself if he wants another contract. Some players would rip in and play their heart out. Braith on the other hand decides to find a contract elsewhere. Pathetic pea heart Braith makes FPN look dedicated

Braith gone
What a dead set bunch of whingers Roosters fans are; if I was Braith and checking this forum I'd run as fast as I could; he probably cant wait to go to the Tigers and who could blame him. He has poured his heart and soul into our team but it never seems to matter; when we get our claws into a player they don't come out till the player has gone and we find another player to whip and start all over again. We have a real young enthusiastic side and will be a while before they can match it with the more experienced teams which was always to be expected but no doubt in another few weeks the screamers will be out loud and louder if we lose a few about getting rid of Smith. At the Coaches Forum at the club before the season started one supporter said he can cop the losses as long as the team look like they want to play and as long as they are giving it their all they really need the support of the fans to keep lifting them. Come on fans; cut the whinging; lets get behind Braith who is our Captain in case anyone has forgot, our team and give them all our support.
