What exactly do these coaches think not naming players then swapping the team around 24 hours before the kick off achieves?
If the players know the correct line up at the start of the week, then so will the opposition. Players are mates and word gets around, so it doesn't fool anyone.
If the players don't know until the day before or something, then thats just downright retarded.
IMO the NRL should introduce strict laws that teams MUST name the correct 17 players on tuesday who will be taking the field on the weekend. Any changes can only be made through injury. If a team plays an unnamed player, then fine the shit out of them.

Correct!
The road block is being removed but not until 2013, unless someone has a brain fart & moves Anasta to the sidelines.....that's OFF the field, not on.

What about if you have a player who passes a fitness test late in the week that wasn't named on Tuesday cos you thought he was no chance???
Why do we name teams on Tuesday anyway??? So the papers can run them on Wednesday's I bet.
Seriously why do you even care as a fan. Isn't it about the badge not the bloke wearing it???
Personally I like the current rule, you have to complete the team list one hour before kickoff. The tuesday thing is for the media, I couldn't give a fark what they write, and I gather neither would any coach, concerning team lists.
As for that Twatter shit, I'd ban my players from it or they can sit in reserve grade if they want to announce the size of last hours turd they just dropped.
The FlogPen .
You know it makes sense.

Did you not read the part where I said to only allow changes THROUGH INJURY?
Team lists are named for a number of reasons. Betting for one, which the game makes an absolute motza through. The NRL has been smart enough to get a slice of the gambling pie from the betting agencies (As well as all the sponsorship that individual clubs get) and no doubt enforcing a rule which actually means the teams named on tuesday will actually play on the weekend would help them to set the right odds, increase their takings and in turn increase the share for the NRL.
There is also the added benefit of team stability. Players knowing that when they are named on tuesday they WILL be playing on the weekend has to do good things for their confidence. On top of which, throwing a kid into his debut at the last minute with a number in the 20s on his back is also not giving him an ideal prep. Bennett and Bellamy have never bothered with playing these stupid mind games with their players and/or the opposition so I don't see any call for any other coach to be doing it.
