Let's fine/suspend players for being competitive on the field and let a guy with an assault conviction play finals footy.

Unfortunate timing for May, but it's an assault conviction. IMO it should receive a greater punishment than a lazy hip-drop tackle given it's eeeerm... assaulting somebody.

This decision is beyond belief, absolute madness.

You see things like this happen, with clear bias towards the top team, and then it's not really such a wide bridge to cross to accept that the corruption filters down to the referees as well.

But corruption aside, V'Landys and Abdo are just clowns dressed in expensive suits. Just totally incompetent. Unfortunately, V'Landys has too many mates in the press and he is never going to be held to account. He'll have that job for as long as he wants it. Abdo might be more expendable if its deemed necessary for someone to take the fall.

So many players have missed grandfinals over the past 30 years for indiscretions, no leniency given for missing grand finals. May has been given ONLY 2 games which would see him available for the grandfinal. And yet the NRL still defers it. Unbelievable and totally unacceptable!

Can not fathom how May got a deferred sentence on this one, reiterates the double standards in the NRL head office and lack of transparency.
They pick and choose the punishments to suit themselves.

My understanding is that Collins got sent a letter about hip drops, which is why we didn't challenge it.

As in... it was probably a grade 1 or 2 at worst but it got upgraded.

It was Collins third similar offence - dangerous contact

3rd Offences- Dangerous Contact

Grade 1 - 2 matches ($ 3000)
Grade 2 - 4 matches (3 early plea)
Grade 3 - 5 matches ( 4 early plea)

The grading is the only debatable point - It was more than a grade 1 as an injury was sustained which is taken into account nowadays.

Patrick Carrigans Hip Drop on Jackson Hastings was referred directly to the Judiciary where he received a 4 game suspension the same as Collins who was charged with a grade 3 and took the early plea.

One would have thought if Carrigan was referred to the judicary he would have received a longer suspension than the maximum for a grade 3 of 4 weeks (if the player takes the early plea)- so in the Judiciary minds Carrigan and Collins hip drops were ruled the same as far as foul play was concerned for matches to be suspended for?.

The NRL judiciary also rightly or wrongly takes into account any injuries sustained as a result of foul play which opens a can of worms - Tom Eisenhuth (Storm) sustained a syndesmosis season ending injury and Jackson Hasting a season ending fibula fracture which one assumes would also put him out of contention for the RLWC - England

Earlier in the year - Tyrell Fuimaono (Dragons) did a hip drop on Haze Dunster(Parramatta) who sustained season ending PCL/MCL/ACL injuries as a result - I think Fuimaono received a 5 or 7 weeks suspension -

In such circumstances should Fuimaono have been suspended for the season if injuries sustained as a result of foul play are taken into account?- Opens a can of worms as I mentioned above

An interesting side note though is Dunster is going out with Fuimaono's Sister ( 6 year relationship) who also plays NRLW with the Dragons

the delayed sentence for may is an odd one. they followed their protocols and didn't suspend him immediately but not suspending him immediately once the verdict came in is odd.

They guys on NRL 360 last night absolutely went off on this, and I'm with them! Lindsay Collins gets 4 weeks for tackling around the legs like has been done for generations. Mitchell Pearce got months for pretending something. Jack de Belin missed two seasons and was found not guilty. This clown attacks a person in public from behind and throws him on a concrete floor, hitting a garbage bin and gets TWO WEEKS!.....and OH, DON'T WORRY, THERE'S SEMI-FINALS COMING UP AND YOU CAN SERVE THE FIRST TWO GAMES NEXT YEAR!.....Mind boggling and disgraceful!!!!!!!!!

Penrith are starting to give off that 2014 stench. I guess since we broke the mold after 25 years to go B2B, a regular one off premiership won't do it anymore. 2 in a row is the new 1 in a row. And if its not us this year i personally would have no qualms if the Eels got it done to break their drought.

So glad we fought tooth and nail for our Everest, they can hand out "success" like candy to other teams, they won't appreciate it like we do.

When it’s a rooster we get players banned finals or not. But May, Penrith's winger gets a suspended 2 week ban for being found guilty of assault. Something doesn’t seem right why Collins couldn’t serve his ban next season? One of the factors they took into account was he’d miss the finals. Why aren’t we given that consideration? I remember Slater was let off to play the GF but we had Luke Ricketson suspended for a grand final. So assault is ok for May to play in the finals but a bad tackle we get the book thrown at us. Looks like they’re going for a Penrith double. The rooster hate is so thick. JWH gets sin binned but the other player just gets warnings but stays on. About time our club lodged an official complaint of discrimination.

That would have been a recommendation from the Integrity Unit though - a 2 match stand down not a Judiciary decision as they only deal with on field matters
