Business as usual for Warriors' Maloney

Sydney Roosters-bound James Maloney quips that he'll have to make sure he goes into the right dressing room in Sydney on Saturday night.

That apart, it will be business as usual for the chirpy playmaker when the Warriors take on the NRL club he'll be playing for next season.

The five-eighth says nothing has changed for him this week apart from getting greater media attention in the build-up.

"At the end of the day, it's another game," he said.

"I want to play well. I don't have anything to prove. It's just about going out and trying to get the two points."

The NSW-born Maloney announced last November that he had signed a three-year deal with the Roosters, citing a desire to be closer to his family.

The 25-year-old will go head-to-head against opposition skipper Braith Anasta, who is also on the move, off to Wests Tigers next year after agreeing to a two-year deal on Friday.

Both the Warriors and the Roosters are two from four heading into the clash at Allianz Stadium.

The Auckland-based club are backing up from a 26-6 win over Gold Coast, but Maloney said it could have been a different story if a couple of crucial incidents had gone the other way.

"We have to get more consistent over the 80 minutes," he said.

"All our performances this year have been a bit patchy. We've done a lot of good stuff, but we've also had some points there that was quite scrappy."

Maloney arrived at the Warriors at the end of 2009 as largely an unknown with just four first-grade appearance for Melbourne.

His performances over the two seasons since, including helping the Warriors to last year's grand final, has him knocking on the door of State of Origin selection.

"I've got a lot more footy in between here and when that happens," he said.

"My focus is just playing well. If something was to happen off the back of that, I'd jump at the opportunity."

Part of me is going to want to see him in action, tearing us apart and the other part is asleep.

James .... feel free to walk into the wrong dressing room, put on the red, white and blue No 6 and play for us. See you in 2013.
