  • The South Sydney Whinging Thread

I said I was going to start one and here is a cracker of a story to kick off with..feel free to keep this thread going during the off-season whilst I'm off line and post any of their nonsense in here. That way those who don't want to read about the rabble don't have to and those who like to vent about them have a one stop shop to do so.

Bloody cheek of this bloke..how much do they get paid?

Flying Souths: Why Rabbitohs star wants Roosters supremo to pay for flight upgrade

Could the Sydney Roosters’ billionaire chairman Nick Politis do a special favour for a South Sydney player for the first time in his life?

Souths halfback Lachlan Ilias is hoping so when the pair link up with Greece at next month’s World Cup.

Ilias had back surgery last off-season and requires daily stretching and treatment to make sure there are no major flare-ups. He also struggles to sit down for longer than an hour without experiencing a shooting pain down one of his legs.

So the thought of a long-haul flight to the other side of the globe next month to compete in the World Cup is causing the 22-year-old anxiety.

Which is where Politis comes in.

“I’ve never met Nick, but I’m thinking of asking him if he can fly me to England in business class, just to help my back,” Ilias told The Sun-Herald.

“I can’t sit down for too long. Whenever we go on away trips, I’ll wear a support [brace] on the plane, and the physios encourage me to get up and walk around and stretch. Trying to do that on a long flight will be harder.

“I had a bulging disc in my back. I had a microdiscectomy where they shaved the disc in my back. I haven’t had any shooting pain down the leg since, but chairs in economy don’t help.
“The fact I play for Souths might bite me in the backside. If I have to, I’ll pay myself. I spoke to my dad [Arthur] and he said because I play for Souths, Nick might not help me out.

“I’ve never spoken to him and never seen him in real life. I’ll meet him in a couple of weeks when the squad is [together].

“I know one of us will be happy by Sunday night, and hopefully, it’s me.”

Ilias flew to New Zealand during the middle of the year for a short break, but his back flared up on the three-hour one-way flight.

“I even get stiff in the back driving to Redfern most mornings, and they loosen me up before training,” he said.

Roosters playmaker Luke Keary laughed when told about Ilias’ hopes of receiving an upgrade from Politis. Keary will play for Ireland at the World Cup.

“He’s zero chance,” Keary told The Sun-Herald. “And if he does get one, I’ll be wanting one. Can you tell me the result of that one please? Everyone will end up asking for one.”

    What?

This week we've had Latrell using the race card and now this malaka wants to use the Greek card?

Why doesn't he ask his own chairman, Nick Pappas?

Why doesn't he ask other rich and famous Hellenics like Nick Kyrios, Nick Giannopoulos, Spiros Arion or The Brain?

They're owned by 2 billionaires ...who pretend to be Vermin supporters, another multi millionaire celebrity owner (who granted) does actual support the team he owns ..... i'm sure the halfback could russle up (no pun intended) the extra $$'s to upgrade his flight from that lot.
He could even apply to 'Souffs Cares' for assistance ...because I dont think Nick cares.

Also suggestion ...rename the thread to Sook Sydney .... because the name fits that club a whole lot better !

I agree with you but as someone who has been a member of this forum from 2009, we can't help ourselves. A lot goes on in the off-season so put it all in here and those who want to participate may do so and those not interested don't need to click into the thread..

I like a clean neat and tidy home and also a clean and neat and tidy forum. This thread is for everyone's dumping of South Sydney stuff in one place..every home has a junk drawer...this is the equivalent of that..

              It's optional to contribute..

Could be a bad omen you starting this as you did say you would do it when our season was over. Let’s hope it isn’t

PS Many are messaging me as you mention that you will be leaving the pen in the off season whether it is more than you mentioned you had lost 40kgs earlier on this season. If we last another week it will be the latter for sure. Mind you maybe you’ve threatened to leave here and farwelled us more with touching songs to mark it this season than the other two mentioned Hmm

If I was Nick Politis, I'd tell the leeching scum to frigging walk if that's what keeps the pain at bay.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs

It's literally the equivalent of a toothless bogan at the train station stumbling up and saying "oi....do you have 50 cents I can use for a train ticket bra?"...but on a much grander scale.

Looks like Ilias is certainly playing the most suitable club for him.

Whining and the expectation/entitlement of handouts is indeed the Souffs way.

Souffs sinney fans should be happy with the news this week that there is a big increase to centreline payments.

They will be able to afford more metho to drown their sorrows after losing today (or winning heaven forbid).

                              But wait, there's more!

                              Source: SMH:

A South Sydney official had to hold back a fired-up Cody Walker during a heated post-match exchange with a Penrith trainer following Saturday night’s heartbreaking loss to the reigning champions.

Walker launched a verbal tirade at Panthers head physiotherapist Pete Green in the aftermath of his side’s 32-12 loss at Accor Stadium, which ended the Rabbitohs’ season.
The situation had to be defused by Walker’s teammates Cameron Murray and Davvy Moale, as well as South Sydney chief operating officer Brock Schaefer.

Green was later escorted from the field by fellow Penrith officials, who watched the incident unfold from afar.

Nine News captured vision of the argument, which will be aired on Sunday night. The Herald can reveal that Walker was irate with Green over an incident late in the game.

The Panthers believe the innocuous incident occurred when Green attended to fullback Dylan Edwards following a tackle from his former Panthers teammate Jed Cartwright in the 69th minute.
Cartwright then approached Green to discuss the matter after the game, before Walker injected himself into the conversation and launched the verbal attack on the Panthers trainer.

When approached for comment after the game, Walker declined to discuss the matter. The NRL says no official complaint was lodged.
Animosity between the two sides escalated leading into last year’s finals series when coaches Wayne Bennett and Ivan Cleary traded verbal barbs over the treatment of Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary.

It was the Panthers who had the last laugh when they knocked over the Bunnies to collect last year’s premiership despite going down to South Sydney in the opening weekend of the finals series.
The Rabbitohs have once again been bundled out at the hands of the Panthers, with tension between the two sides now at boiling point following Taane Milne’s cheap shot on Spencer Leniu which saw him sent off for the final 17 minutes of the game.

The exchange between Walker and Green is just the latest chapter in a growing list of grievances between the two sides.
