It's hard to be proud of a club like yours with the lay down Sally tactics.

I guess you've had little to cheer about in 50 odd years enjoy one more week.

    • robbo had us primed for the finals. he got us peaking at the right time. that's not easy to do but we had momentum and were looking good to give it a shake. if we don't lose teddy after 18 minutes, on top of having lost manu, i think we win that game easily. sure, we did some dumb things yesterday but losing teddy was the biggest factor. put is this way - if they'd lost latrell souths would have struggled.

robbo has won 3 comps in ten years so he's no fool. not saying past success guarantees future success but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater

We could have driven the nail into them without Teddy. We were on top & blitzing through them.

That 10min period against 11 men We hardly touched the ball. Dropped balls, Butcher giving away a dumb 6 again then stupid penalties. Then they score with 11 men against bad defence.

We missed crucial points in that 10min period that was unforgivable & stupid. Then chuck in key injuries after that & I knew we were screwed.

Our season was busted when we lost to the dogs after a loss to the dragons. And Rd 1 was a 3 out of 10 when a 6 or 7/10 performance was required.
We lost those games because we were short one strong running front rower, after Lodge joined the team we started winning because the backs had more space to put on plays.

I think Robbo definitely needs to wear how the season went in the sense the start of our season was so bad primarily based off the fact he swapped Sammy W and Keary for no reason. Kept playing Hutch and Watson at dummy half when Verrills was out didn't help either. It came to the point where it would've taken a miracle to win the comp from here, winning 12 in a row. Souffs were and are dogcnts who are a stain on humanity but they executed better than us today in key moments. We peaked early by necessity coz of our slow start and persisted with players out of their depth in the 13. I.e. Hutch, Momo, Sitili (pre ACL).
You are correct, but who would you have put on ,we had to play with the players we have.

Yeah yesterday's game was different. We had to play with the troops down. But you would be better off getting a reserve grade hooker like Marscke to fill in over a bench lock (Watson) and a reserve grade half (Hutch).

In terms of centres , I dont know if Gildart is any good but seems odd to play a bloke out of position as opposed to giving a loan signing a chance to play in their preferred position.

Yes, its amazing we have such great competitors and heroes on the side but if every other team in the comp stays down for penalties and we don't, you don't get competition points for it. He also appears arrogant to where it almost doesn't matter about the other team or the decisions or any external factors and just that the result is based simply off us "executing" and playing "Roosters footy" as if we are in total control of everything. He's always been like that so nothing new but sometimes costly. E.g. Souffs today knocked out Teddy and laid down for penalties and he said "I dont have an opinion". Call them out Trent!! Meanwhile, FA Cup ears Demetriou has an opinion and he couldn't coach to save his life.
You make some good points there.

You maybe correct, but its hypothetical, whether those players would have been better in those positions, but we did get Watson to fill in at hooker and Hutchison has not been a bad fill in where ever he played.Losing Teddy was the turning point in the game and playing dumb football when we were two players up didn't didnt help.
Our players must learn to play second phase with clever offloads instead of one out stupid football.

                      • I would like to point out that Souths were very average yesterday.

They were very lucky that we had the slowest 3/4 line in NRL history so were able to defend their edges with 11 with ease.

If Teddy, Manu and Toops play we smoke them. Not even up for debate.

We were without our second best player. They then purposefully took out our best player. And proceeded to scab a win.

Oh well, that's sport. It is sometimes beautiful but mostly brutal.

We haven't had luck with injuries this decade. If that changes and we retain Lodge then we win the comp next year in rampant fashion.

                        • And yet if we beat Newcastle, Saints and Canterbury, all games we should've won easily, we'd still be alive and fighting for a premiership, so it is down to Robinson and his slow starts. We had an excuse last year but this year was the pits. I know one thing for sure, we need another strike centre to partner Manu, we haven't recovered from losing Mitchell.

That's easy to say Ray, and I respect your comments.
But the only strike players we have in the backline are Teddy, Toops, Manu and Bondi Joe.
How do we fit in another strike player, under the cap?
BTW, I thought Toops was magnificent on Sunday, even on one leg.
For the time he was out there, he was so dangerous to the opposition.
And that's with him not even being able to jump.

How do you know that? If we had won those games would we have been as desperate in the games v Cowboys, Storm and Souths? We might have dropped one or two of those and still finished in 5th or 6th. It's not as easy as saying if we won 2 more games we would have finished higher because those wins would have had an impact on our mentality as we approached those crucial games in the back end of the season. I tyell you want whould be nice....a season where we get looked after like Canberra and play the bottom 4 twicce and the top 4 only once!

                              • Yep 100% Robbo gets stuff wrong. Yesterday he's not on the field when we got 13 on 11 and totally stuff that advantage and then let them score !!!. I guess it shows just how important Teddy is.
We probs not gonna win put putting 1 or 2 tries in in that 13 on 11 time would've made the score a bit better but could've messed with Souffs heads. We'll never know.

But wait for the Easts v Souffs match next year. Hope that's in week 1. Will be insane.
