But after losing Teddy,Tupou and Angus during the game the result was expected.
Hope next year the injury Gods finally shine on us as it feels relentless since 2020
We really did seemingly sell our souls to the injury devil gods to go back to back it seems.

Three premiership window seasons completely hammered by key injuries.

We are due for some luck next year.

Chins up peeps was going to be to big a mountain to climb we must be Top 4 winning the first weekend, 3 tough matches is was is needed to win this comp, and all hands on deck fit team, sprinkled with a bit of good fortune. We shot ourselves on the foot early in the season with deplorable losses to soft teams.

If we got through yesterday we would field half a team next week no Toops no Manu probably no Teddy or Gus or SST, JWH not fully fit looks hampered our backline was totally destroyed impossible to win in such a dire situation.

Its just a game of footy baited or not JWH and Rads stand up for this team Souffs have targeted our Xfactor players two years running it will come together give it time, what I believe we lack is a proper leader a general i.e Cronk, Cords or Jake.

Too many square pegs in round holes at the end. As Roobo said in the press conference, it got messy and they handled it better than us....mainly because they were able to keep their spine intact for the whole game. We desperately need another quality centre next season if we are to challenge. I would hope we re-sign Lodge for at least another year, we have Paulo coming over from Souths to add depth out wide but we still need another outside back I feel.

The game managers have too many weapons in their armory to achieve over regulation.
The HIA rules are too strict.
We paid the penalty for souffs illegal tactics.

Yes. Doubt over El Masri's try in 03 for me. But the big one for me (apart from 1972, which when you seen highlights of, we were robbed blind!) was 2010. We were the best team in that comp and although the end scoreline makes everyone think it didn't matter, the fact is there was a 12 or 18 point turnaround in the first half and the Roosters ended up playing catch-up football in the driving rain that they wouldn't have had to do if the refs got it right in the first half.

As for last night. I am so sick of all this hatred that the owner with the anger issues has promoted since he took over that club. The media has run with it as well. There used to be a healthy local rivalry, now it's just ugly. I wasn't expecting the Roosters to pull out a win two weeks in row, though I was hoping. I am also expecting the team that finished 7th not to make the grand final, especially after playing us two weeks in a row.

Agree wholeheartedly. As a youngster I played in both the Easts and Souths juniors comps and had the great opportunity to be coached by Clive Churchill while he was still Souths first grade coach, as his son played in our team. Back then it was local rivalry but never bitter - play hard, have a beer and chat after. Now it is just out and out hatred and I don't think its all coming from them, but it definitely got more intense when the phone chucker took over. I'm not sure that all the players buy into it though, there seemed to be genuine concern for Angus from Cook and Murray as opposed to SST's head clash and the players involved there.

Maybe as fans and supporters we're guilty of being influenced by the media and buying in to the hatred as well. Last nights lose was tough but if we look back at a reply sometime in the next few weeks with clearer heads and less emotion, you'd possible agree that we played some dumb football and had enough opportunities to win the game, regardless of the refs managed the game.

I understand the game is now very different from those times and their is no going back but let's just stop with the hatred, there's more than enough of it in the world already.

I've mentioned that point before about how Crowe has fueled the hatred between the clubs and its to our detriment because they handle the emotion of it better than we do.
My biggest fear was playing them back to back and it ended up costing us any chance losing Manu and Teddy in consecutive matches as they were tearing teams up through the middle.
That was a horrible spectacle as a league fan and the NRL can take some of the responsibility by giving Klein the whistle.
He'll probably get a week spell in the naughty corner just like Sutton did after our Panthers match and Gee after the Storm game but it's little help for us.
That's a shattering loss and ended what had been a terrific run up to the finals , took quite a few drinks to dull the pain of that one last night.

It seems the powers that run this game have an overall objective to see at least 3 particular teams do “well” in this competition…

                  1. the jewel of the West, RL development central, as we are reminded over & over again, the Riff…
                  2. the Qld goldmine, newscorp’s mill$ Broncos…
and 3. the darling of metro Sydney, victim kings, Souths

Gus asked Abdo the other day, with all these changes to the game … what do you want rugby league to look like? and who is the audience you are targeting?

Yes admittedly we were poor in the footy department yesterday, and played right into their hands, especially after Teddy was targeted and taken out (one of last week’s lessons learnt) … but judging by what unfolded yesterday, do the answers to Gus’ valid questions have possible links to…?

                  Albanese?
                  Underground criminal syndicates?
                  or Centrelink?

The hurt will pass, but more fuel to the fire for next season… RWB/E2W 2023!

I think they play with such intensity that injuries seem to happen more than other teams.
