  • Walker fractured arm and JWH fractured wrist

Apologise if this has been already posted elsewhere as I haven't read through any of the threads since yesterday.

Walker reportedly played yesterday with a fractured forearm suffered in round 25 and JWH a fractured wrist also suffered in week 25 against the Vermin.

Add that to Toops with a fractured groin and Radley with a fractured mind and you get yesterday's debacle.

It really feels like going back to back was a monkey paw scenario where we’ve done the impossible in the modern era and ever since then have been ripped apart by many long term injuries and forced retirements of key players.

Wow that’s crazy. Verrills also had a busted finger.

Meanwhile Latrell's over on social media trying to garner support to have Thug Burgess's charges downgraded to a fine, his hit on Teddy alone deserves 2 weeks. If the Judiciary allows this to happen, then they are an even bigger joke than they already are!!

The roosters would have been cannon fodder had we continued in the finals.
the injury toll was stacking up too high.

It was our early season form slump with a fit squad that cost us dearly .
it is definitely a season of missed opportunities as imo we had the best squad in the NRL , we just needed to get those early season wins in the bank but we failed to do so.

Hopefully they'll all recover in time for next season.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

We were going ok and leading 8-6 until Burgess flattened Teddy.
Our team needs to train and prepare for any future event like that.

Radley was binned the second time for "3rd man in".
To some supporters it seemed to be:
a hate campaign and "get Souths home" day.

Pick whatever team we like but if there's a hate campaign, well, you know.
Flatten Teddy, you should be sent off.
Send offs (not only sin binnings) should be reintroduced.

Brave effort from the boys to play on with broken bones but the injuries took there toll on our line up in the end. We would have been better off sending out the bears in the last round game, we won the battle but lost the war.

But how fit was the squad really.
As I remember it Covid had just laid low most of the players.
There was no Keary, and Walker was definitely not the player he is today.

We also seemed to have that "premierships aren't won in March" mentality.

There is no doubt covid ripping through the squad in January had us behind the eight ball of where we wanted or needed to be early on. I’m not sure how far behind it would have put us behind in terms of fitness a lot would depend on who did what before Christmas The less work find before Christmas the further behind one would be. When I got covid late December I was training to get back into sport in late January. Due to my choices I had to sit things out before Christmas. I did maintain fitness throughout the lockdown and in my forced absence. I thought Covid would really set me back but to my surprise it didn’t. I went back into sport 2 weeks behind in what I wanted to have done, but when I got back didn’t notice it in the slightest. In terms of the effect that covid would have had ripping through a whole squad and how far behind it would have put the team, that is immeasurable for an outsider to have any real idea. The one thing we all saw is that we were well behind the eight ball early on.

Premierships are not won in March and even April. But they can be lost in that period and in our teams case this is what happened this year.

i'd say it was our luck with injuries in the last couple of weeks that was the deciding factor - if we'd won every game this season, even won round one, broken all records, beaten each of the bulldogs, saints and knights by 100 points, but had our current injury and suspension situation we wouldn't have won this weekend.

Not sure where these injuries have come from and can't see any report of them as the following Pilot Medical update lists only Tedesco and Crichton HIA / Toops Groin and Manu's calf injuries.
