The club didn't want the news of JWH injury to leak out so he could serve his 3 match suspension as part of the Kiwi WC squad.

The injuries were reported in News Ltd publications plus the NRL Physio

On top of the fractures for Walker and JWH news today that Suaalii reportedly suffered a shoulder subluxation in round 24 (hence why he missed week 25)

Really was ridiculous how battered and bruised this team was for that final against the Vermin.

Makes the fact that we didn't rest anyone in rd25 all the more strange....

Couldn't agree more. Where's Rocky these days? He was vocal in his disapproval of me suggesting we rest players v Souths in Rd 25 because we would be giving up 'momentum' coming in to the finals. All our momentum meant for a whole lot on Sunday arvo!

Stupidity to not rest Manu if it was true about his calf tightness during the week. He would have been fresh & slotted into fullback when Teddy went down & we would have had a much better chance last week.

Without both Teddy & Manu last week we were no chance also considering we had Hutch & Momo in the centres.

We should of rested half the team in round 25

i was in favour of resting a few in the last round - i don't have a thing about souths, so i didn't care if we lost that game if we gave ourselves a better chance to win week 1 of finals - but i don't have a problem with what we did. both options had risks and rewards and anyway teddy and angus being rubbed out by head knocks and toops doing his groin had nothing to do with last round selections.

Something tells me they would have if there was no "occasion" such as christening a new stadium.

I can't see how resting players in R25 would have avoided the carnage.
They still would have targeted Teddy and JS's heads. Gus still would have copped his head knock. Toups was always going to last less than half a game.
Rads, Toups and JS didn't play in R25. Only player that might have made a difference is Manu but hindsight is a wonderful thing and who says he couldn't have done his calf at training or during the game.
We were primed to win the game. We were going to smash them 20 minutes in. No coward hit on Teddy and we win the game. Resting players made SFA difference.
Time to get over finding reasons why we lost and trying to find scapegoats whether it is Robbo, Rads, JWH etc.
There was one and only one reason we lost and nobody was going to stop their plans of knocking our best player's head off. It worked in 1988 and it worked on Sunday.
As Uncle Nick said last night. I hope Fitzy wins this week. It will make me feel better.

Agreed. It would have been an ideal time to rest players as we’d already made the top 8. But we chose to play our gf that day instead.
