Next year they will go to a 17 team comp - teams play each other once and 8 teams twice for a 24 game regular season
If they continue expanding it will get even more uneven unless they go to conferences or divisions which will ensure teams will play the same teams the same number of times no matter what conference or division they are in
i.e
18 teams - 2 conferences of 9 teams and either 8 or 10 team finals series (25 game regular season).
Play teams in the other conference once and teams in your conference twice - either cross over finals series or Superbowl type finals series (conference finals series and 2 conference winner playoff)
20 teams - divisions - 4 divisions of 5 teams and 10 team finals series (23 game regular season).
Play each team once and teams in your division twice - finals series - top 2 teams for each division after the regular season are ranked from 1 to 8 based on the first 19 games ( i.e you play the 19 other teams once before you play teams in your division a second time) - the two remaining finals places 9 and 10 are determined by 2 wild card play off games between the 4 3rd placed division teams.
The 10 team final series will operate under the same format of the 1998 10 Team NRL Finals series.Last edited by King Salvo; 09-19-2022, 04:24 PM.

i don't care if souths play there and they've got more connection to the area than they do to homebush but not as much as us and they'll always be training at redfern and we'll always be training at moore park. hard to argue that the area is souths home but it certainly is ours

FWIW I think the Penriff/ Souths game on Saturday might just be another sh*t show.
Big ears even admitted "they have no hope of going set for set with the Riff, and winning 6-4"
I think big ears doesn't even want to try this for any part of the game, because he knows Souffs will be beat.
So I am tipping Souffs to try to be as disruptive as possible, and attempt to frustrate Penriff. out of the game.
The "milkers" will get up from tackles holding their heads, nose, chins etc in attempts to milk the penalty.
Penalties, piggybacks upfield from penalties, "injured" Souffs players in the ruck, numerous bunker video replays, niggling with intention to get multiple players into a fracas, etc will be the order of the day.
Just as long as Souffs stop the Riff from playing any sort of continuous footy, and getting into a rhythm.
And if this is the case, where do Souffs win the game?
From what I've noticed, Souffs don't want to play football anywhere on the field, except when they get into your red zone.
Then , they come "Alive"
Don't believe me ? Go check out where 5 of Souffs 6 tries were scored , against Cronulla.
They are pretty good at putting the ball through the hands, and stripping you on the edges, or coming up with a Latrell/ Cody trick shot to score a try.
One fan made the comment that Souffs were a "big danger when they are in your red zone"- I think that pretty much sums up their team.
I am still tipping the Riff to win this game, but if Souffs pull off their "tactics", the game might be closer than lots of people think.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
