The video ref used to rule on them. Think it stopped end of 2000 or 2001. Watch a replay of our preliminary final win over Newcastle in 2000. Ryan Cross had a try chalked off for forward pass that was flat at the very worst, then he got one in the second half that was more forward then the one they ruled as a forward pass. Drought, heat, and bushfires will return soon enough.
I fear not enough has been/is being done to prepare.
Maybe it's all being done in secret.
Off season...modern technology sure gives us plenty of choice.
Kodak box brownie camera amazed me.
Now I can buy some thing in a box from a shop, take it home, unpack it and sit it on a piece of furniture.
Make a phone call, a man in a van arrives, bolts a piece of metal to my roof, goes inside and drills a couple of holes in the wall, runs some sort of rubber cord from the wall to the thing I unpacked, puts some black rectangular thing next to it, gives me some small plastic thing to hold in my hand and tells me to push some buttons on it.
Next minute the thing from the big box lights up and I can see people playing rugby league in England, live...in crystal clear colour.
It's 'ridiculous'.Last edited by bondi.boy; 09-25-2022, 04:56 PM.

It's 'ridiculous'.. As for working from home, I have 2 monitors, a wireless mouse, keyboard and laptop. Amazing what we've seen in our lifetime BB...not to mention walking around with over 11,000 songs in my pocket..there is a lot to be grateful for to make life easier for us..
I hope you have a lovely off-season and take care of yourself and Mrs BB also. See you back on here next March.."Those who care about you can hear you, even when you are quiet" - Steve Maraboli

I don't think we should give the bunker the right to rule on forward passes leading up to a try.
It will be chaotic.
It already takes them 5 minutes to clear the grounding of a ball that leads to a try.
Sutton proved that the bunker can get it wrong with all the camera footage in the world- The Staines no-try (obstruction) and Chricton no-try (no grounding) are almost unbelievable decisions
Can you imagine the bunker getting their slide rules out and checking every available camera angle, for forward passes?
It will take an additional 5 minutes for them to clear the try for forward passes, after spending 5 minutes on the grounding, with repeated replays and different screen shots.
And they will still produce more howler decisions.
I much prefer the present system, where the ref rules on what he sees , and gut instinct, and whether the ball travels backwards out of the hands.
The safety switch in all this is that if the ref continually gets it wrong, he gets demoted.
That's enough for me- I won't complain if a try comes off a pass that is a foot or two forward, as long as the forward propulsion isn't obvious, and the refs seem to catch most of those situations.
I'm not convinced technology can do the job either, but I am open to it as long as as it produces consistent results, and the results are proven not to be stupid.

I only pulled out my digital camera yesterday as I never use it and Mitchell Aubusson was the one who had to show me how to switch it on back in 2012 down in Melbourne... I charged it up and found a photo of myself with SKD and the trophy from 2013.... As for working from home, I have 2 monitors, a wireless mouse, keyboard and laptop.
