How we played in that first 11 v 13 period infuriated me. Penalties and knock ons. We barely touched the ball and the one bloke that can actually do damage just strolls through for a try. We should have won the game in that period.

Just chilling on one knee after every kick return waiting for the bunker to give him a penalty.
That game was a disgrace to Rugby League. And it was initiated by the officials and Souffs.
They are made for each other.

Originally posted by Paddo Colt 61 View PostAs the emotions settle, the resentment grows. It was old school, Les Boyd style devastation and, clearly, premeditated. The first hit on Teddy could have been accidental but the second, the third and fourth made the tactic clear to anyone watching just what was going on and now our finals campaign is ended by illegal tactics from yesteryear that took merit out of the win and ruined it as a spectacle,
It will be interesting to see if Souffs continue the tactic. Burgess won't continue to be the hitman, he needs a long suspension but no doubt that was factored in. Maybe Saluka-Fifita will be next man up?

This is Trent’s fault for not manning up post game and calling a spade a spade. The officiating was woeful… that’s the only reason Souths were allowed to get away with their scum tactics and the game descended into farce. And yet somehow Demetriou is being allowed to play the saint now by the media
Our captain… the best player on the planet… was headhunted with impunity. It obviously decided the game… on final evidence we would have won handily… Tedesco had already gone over 100 metres in just 18 minutes. So I don’t blame JWH or Radley in the slightest for being furious with the injustice of it all.
As for Trent saying that when it finally came time to play football we were just outplayed?
Seriously… Souths aren’t much good but he’s utterly deluded if he thought we should have matched them with a dregs of a backline of Naiqama Momorovski Hutchinson and Watson for much of the game
Trent’s the one who needs an HIA the most at the moment… he’s been going soft in the head for awhile now
I don't disagree with you on a lot of what you say. We went into the game without Manu, lost Teddy early, lost Gus, had players out there with injuries that would have kept them out for 4 weeks plus in normal rounds. It was always going to be near impossible task- the backline was a shambles.
Your right re Radley- both times he got binned for who he is rather than what he did. You only have to watch this weeks semis- there will be a melee or incident, someone will run in like Radley did-and the ref will do nothing besides a general warning.
Doesnt make sense to blame a coach who has won 3 premierships, missed the semi finals once in 10 years and has a 64% win rate. Added to that, players want to play for him and he is the main attraction in bringing quality players to the club.
Look forward to 2023- its going to be our year!!

I don’t know what else JWH and Radley were supposed to do? Stand by and watch their captain and best player headhunted out of the game? Of course they’re gonna react to that. The officials should have woken up to what was going on and marched Burgess for the rest of the game but predictably they were too soft.

JWH fractured hand, Walker fractured arm, Toops we know, many don't know that Manu was already injured, Collins suspension. There was little chance of us beating the panthers with 4 rep players out or hanging on by a thread.

And yes you’re absolutely right… a post game rant… even when completely justified… never changes a result
But it does set the record straight and directs how the narrative of a game will be remembered… it also sets a standard for what the club considers unacceptable in the future
Being mealy mouthed and not calling out the obvious injustice doesn’t help the club in anyway… in fact it hurts it going forward because we’re being painted as most culpable for the circus that transpired
I don’t fault any of the players yesterday… it was a valiant effort against insurmountable odds… partly due to bad luck… partly due to egregious foul play from our opponents that went unpunished.
The sin bin means absolutely nothing these days when your best player is illegally taken out… and Burgess didn’t even get binned for it! In fact he was allowed to immediately try and knock out another one of our players the very next set… can you blame him?
So the referees obviously didn’t defend our players… I think all Roosters fans should be well used to that by now… but then unbelievably neither did our coach
Talk about piss weak… the most he could muster was getting terse with a reporter for possibly insinuating the Roosters laid down during the game. Couldn’t even bring himself to say the bleeding obvious… that Souths… particularly Latrell… were heavily milking for penalties and all after successfully headhunting Tedesco
And this after inexplicably taking the time to tell everyone what a great and honourable guy Latrell is before the game?
So basically he’s happy to go out of his way to defend Latrell… an abrasive character who viciously smashed Manu’s face and honestly doesn’t give a f@!k about our club… but not our own captain?
Seriously… Trent needs an HIA… or to just move into politics

I would prefer that every time than have a coach representing us like Sticky or Demetriou
Anyone one who knows the game knows what happened out there so I don’t think Robbo needs to spell it out. Don’t worry about the media reports, they pander to the narrative of the pantomime that the ‘plebs’ want to hear
eg. The roosters have no fans, no development, sombrero etc etc. South’s are the pride of the league, Latrells a champion fullback, everyone’s second team etc etcLast edited by Tennessee Tornado; 09-13-2022, 04:47 PM.

we lost a game against a team that isn't as good as us. that always hurts but it hurts all the more because we were on a roll and who knows how far we could have got. if we were fit and unsuspended and had manu back for the prelim we would have given the panthers a good game.
jwh and rads had a couple of lapses but that's not why we lost - we outscored souths in the first ten minutes that rads was off the field and drew with souths for jwh's ten.
losing teddy was crucial. no doubt we should have done better without him but if you lose the game's best player it's obviously going to be a factor. people have talked about leadership being a problem but i think teddy is at least as good as jake and boyd. losing him was huge.

That wasn’t the case on the weekend
There’s a theory in American sports you might be aware of… the six-shooter theory
Basically a coach has a limited amount of times he can go off with very good effect before everyone just tunes out
Trent has laid down the law before… everyone admired him for it and with good reason. Considering the fiasco that had just unfolded Sunday night was the time for him to step up again… but he’d rather play the disingenuous statesman at the expense of his own club
He’s been doing quite a bit of that lately
I find it very poor leadership on his behalf

I’m honestly convinced if Teddy,Gus and Toupes stay on the field we definetly win that game!
Imagine if Latrell,Walker and Cook came off in the first half?
Totally different ball game
Im saying that JWH and Radley’s antics are wearing thin..
Look at Lodge for example, plays hard and effective without the bullshit!
