Joseph Suaalii to play for Samoa in RLWC

Australia’s World Cup defence has copped two major blows, with Joseph Suaalii joining Payne Haas in withdrawing from Kangaroos selection.

Roosters flyer Suaalii dropped the bombshell on Wednesday that he’ll be playing for Samoa, just hours after Haas pulled out of the tournament to focus on the Broncos pre-season.

Haas was a certainty to get picked in coach Mal Meninga’s 24-man squad that will head to England next month, while Suaalii was considered a strong chance.

Is it just me who thinks Haas is a bit lazy anyway? In Origin I feel he's impossible to take-down but he basically walks into defenders and focuses on standing up in the tackle. Sure it draws in defenders but IMO he could do so much more!

Should be a super competitive comp now though. Australia are still the favourites. I think the Kiwis are being a bit overhyped.

I don't get it personally. Unless he was told he wasn't going to make the Aus side, why did he defect? I blame the NRL and ARL for cheapening the Aussie jersey. It should be held in the same regard as Origin if not greater.
