If Fletch hates Easts and loves Souths, why does he sponsor Easts and not Souths?! Why did he fork our $11,000 to sponsor Todd Carney and not Greg Inglis in that case? Why does he attend our junior dinners and go and speak on behalf of the Roosters at functions?
At a guess maybe his dislike is more of management or some officials at the club??? Maybe he's been burned a few times, didn't Fletch get the sack from a coaching role when Freddo was moved on???
Also business is business. Maybe his sponsorship nets him more back in the long run, maybe it's a smart investment??? Many businessmen deal with the devil if there's a make in it, why not, business and pleasure don't have to mix.
I'm only guessing of course, I haven't spoken to the bloke in some years. I grew up in Bondi and played footy in the juniors. Everyone knew Fletch and Ricko, local boys made good. And they've always been good blokes as far as my expierences with them extended. I've never heard of them brushing an old Bondi boy or forgetting where they came from etc.
I reckon that's all this bloke in the photo stuff is about anyway. They just would've pulled an old mate out cos they thought it was funny. In fact I don't know why people are upset about it, it's their celebration, they played in the game, I guess it's up to them how they want to celebrate it. Like bronterooster, my 1st reaction when I heard about it was to. IMO if Fletch was involved it's a geeup, he's the master of fun. Anyone see him on the roast, telling everyone Ping had signed with gAyFL??? That was very
.

I know Craig Field he was an Easts ball boy, played in our juniors for years but we wouldn't grade him. Souffs did. We still gee each other up when we play, luckily I get him more than he gets me. He hates us. As he says we didn't want a bar of him, why should he show any loyalty.
Sometimes that's the way it goes. Players are professionals, doesn't mean they dont have their favorite teams when their kids. Or doesn't mean they don't get burned along the way.

He loved the Souths colours not the club!!!about the old days and their mutual masturbation for Souffs.
Maybe I have it wrong there about who he supported as a kid, I'm not sure, to be honest I never really asked him who he supported, it didn't bother me.
I do recall him not wanting to leave Easts, it was early 2002 and we were at a mates 30th. It was only a matter of weeks later he announced he'd signed there.
If I'm wrong on the support bit as a kid, I stand corrected, thanks for pointing that out JJ. And to RWB, maybe there lies the confusion???
Bronterooster over to you, you obviously see Fletch and co these days.

Look I don't know Fletch personally, but my best friend (not my next door neighbours dog walker' sister) was speaking to him down the beach the other day before the reunion and he just said that Fletch was bagging the Roosters and saying that he was a South's man. Its probably to do with how he felt he was treated by the club and also the fact that Souths were his team growing up. No big deal
The sponsorship was probably a business decision.
If the club offered Fletch a coaching job, for good money, I'm sure he'd take it. If Souths offered him more money he'd take that. And visa versa.
We all love Fitzy and how much he bleed for the club, but what do you think would happen if the Bunnies offered him a job paying him 150 k more than he's on at the Chooks?

At the time most of us were playing in the Souffs comp anyway, depending on the grade you were in and how many teams were in that grade. I remember also playing in a combined Easts, Stains, Norfs and Balmain comp, or some sort of combo of those areas. It was a long time ago now, but this stuff is all from memory.
I do realize Fletch was graded by Souffs. IMO and I'm sure his he's an Eassts junior. I also played against Jimmy Dymock for years, he was in that freakish Colts side with Fieldsy, they didn't lose a game for 6yrs or so. Both Dymock and Field were claimed as juniors at Souffs. But I know I played against them for years in the Easts comp. From memory they were both graded from Zetland, a side put together with some of the best local, both Easts and Souffs kids, in that grade. Sedaris, Zisti, Hill, Dymock, Field and a host of others all in the same junior side at one time all made 1st grade, many played rep footy.
I have NFI who Fletch supports today, haven't spoken to the man in a few years and not extensively since 02. I can only go on my brothers word as he played with the bloke and goes for Souffs, the egg, and he did have a few cans with Fletch a few seasons ago as i said. Of course he could've been geeing me up, that's always a possibility, souffs eggs can say anything. I can't recall who Fletch supported as a kid, I can't recall ever actually asking him, it wasn't something I thought would come up 25yrs later.

I know Feilds was playing with colts top side and he was helping my son with his kicking.
We must have run across each other at some time as I was pretty much always there at those games.
I'm guessing I'm a little younger than your good self though, being your son is Fletchs and my brothers age, and I'm only a couple of years older than them???
You probably kicked my tail as a kid, and I probably deserved it.
We were involved mostly with Rose Bay Rams, Wooloomooloo Warriors and The Brighton Jets (the pub in Oxford St).
My brother was the good footballer, I was the good drinker.

Fletch was a Souffs supporter a kid, but is a Rooster now without question.
Cast your minds back to the 2010 qualifying final when we beat the Titans....he and Ricko ran onto the field after the game like giddy school boys they were so happy.
He'd also spent time with the team in camp leading up to the game and was in the dressing room at half and full time.
