I’ll reserve judgment on B smith and how he goes with fatigue after our pre season.

For all we know that could well and be the plan, to have him strip down that extra weight he needed for the lock position this season.

Hopefully our coaching staff get him into tip top shape, I have always thought for a little nugget he has had too much weight on him.. even in 2021.

I agree with the above post though, ^ I don’t think we should carry Hutchinson for what? Limited minutes, if need be we can put Watson there for the short spell. We need our bench to be strong and full of impact

I would agree with that analysis in his first grade performances but I saw at least a half dozen Bears games and May was offloading the ball at almost every opportunity. Perhaps coach Robinson told him to cut that out in 1st grade or maybe I'm completely wrong.

We don't need Hutchison, as it stands, we're really only using 2 of the 3 forwards anyway on the bench, if we have Hutchison, we're basically paying 15 against 17 for 70-75 minutes
The Hutchinator is a valued member of the squad and 17 as if not why was he one of only 3 players to play in all 25 games in season 2022.

That definitely appears to be Robbo view.

I'm one of Hutchs' biggest supporters, but either he or Watson misses out, assuming a fully fit squad. BS will be our 9, obviously, and I expect him to be made into an 80-min player by the end of 2023.

Watson is awful as a dummy half, and Hutch is very, very slow, which is why you see him race out of the line when playing centre or half to hit his opposite number before they have time to move.

IMO it looks like Hutch will be used as a relief dummy half, and then as a middle forward/emergency back. Watson misses out.

May absolutely dominated in reserves. I reckon he’ll come good with more game time. He’s also pretty big.

I don’t want to see hutch anywhere near a roosters backline ever again if there is a place for hutch in a roosters side it’s not centre or winger definitely not fullback lol

I don't think he will miss out. He was playing lock/front row off the bench and was an important cog in the way the coach wanted us to play with his leg speed and evasive skills. These are attributes Hutch just doesn't have so I can see him being the odd man out

No way Watson misses out - he came really good the last third of the season.

                      As a running forward, yes.
But as a dummy half, a definite no!!

Watson will be in the side before Hutch if everyone is fit but everyone wont be fit so both will be playing.
