When you are a majority owner of the team you get to make these decisions.

Not sure I would have replaced Hasler with Siebold though.

There is a dirth of candidates - Flanagan seems destined to never be a NRL Head Coach again.

Who else is there ? - Jason Ryles and Dean Young have been mentioned as potential NRL Head Coaches

Agree. I think Penn just let his ego get in the way.

The problem with Des is that he wants to run an NRL club like a country team where the coach has the final say about everything. Unfortunately he’s a control freak and that isn’t tenable in the NRL.

Plus locking the club owner out of a dressing room was probably not the wisest move.

Robbo has a huge amount of ‘say’ in club decisions but he knows when to hand over the reigns to the relevant people for them to make the decision. It’s generally what the experts are paid to do.

Why would the owner of a club feel the need to be present in the sheds against the will of the coach? Manly has become a rich boy plaything like the Warriors rabble.

You are obviously an alt account.

            Chook.

There are good coaches about, it's just that clubs ( like most of Aussie society it must be said) are so risk averse that it takes eons for them to be given a chance.

Ryles and Young are prime examples of people who should be given a crack somewhere. The fact that the Nathan Brown's and Anthony Griffin's of this world keep getting head coaching gigs, just because they've got 'experience as an NRL coach' and therefore are viewed as a 'safe choice' is mind blowing really.

Seibold should probably be given just one more shot before being redlined to be fair, but he has signed his own death by taking the Sea Eagles gig.

IMO he's the wrong guy to be sacking. But... wot me worry?

The rainbow jersey derailed Manly's season...most people seem to believe.
It's a lesson for other clubs thinking of doing the same thing.
Think I read somewhere that if Manly made the top 8 or top 6 or something...it would trigger a clause in coach Hasler's contract about a new deal.
Faith...it's a minefield...and there are federal laws about it...as Essendon has found out.

Lucky for us though we have the best in the business so we will never know.

I hope Des takes a year off, dealing with all the bushit at the Dogs and Sea Eagles over the last few years would be enough for anyone to go a little insane.

Could be bound for a spoon of the wooden with Seibold at the helm. He is an excuse waiting to happen.

Then bend him over and fill his bottom out to even him up
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Now, let me get this straight, the club organized the pride jerseys without letting the bloke with football team control know about it , it blows up in their faces , they send said football controller out with a statement he didn’t write , he doesn’t deliver it the way they want and he also doesn’t let the owner in on a team talk at a game, so they flick him , then they hire a human tackling dummy to replace him ….you can tell Arko is no longer running the joint

If I'm a coach and the guy who signs my cheques wants to come into the sheds, I'm rolling out the red carpet.

Has coached in 5 grand finals, winning two, coach of the year, he is mad, but a pretty handy record.

                                Exactly my thoughts.

Dumb dumb dumb. In retrospect Dessie knows he farked up deluxe but seriously Seibold is not their answer.

IMO the seabirds are in for a lean period....sucked in!
