  • Potential Full Back - Ben Barba

Serious question, have we considered luring Barba to the Chook pen? I think his contract ends 2014, Yes its a few years from now but what are your thoughts?

He has some weaknesses in his game but I've been watching him and he is improving, and he is only getting better. He is a gun and can really create opportunities from a stand still.

If I was a coach I would instruct my players when playing Cnaterbury no grubbers to the ingoal near the line Bomb to the wings or chip to the middle near the line but under no circumstances are you to grunbber it in goal where he can pick the ball up on the fly Any kick near the line must be an aerial contest

Yes high ball or dead against Barba. Hes an average fullback imo but he can do a couple of things no other player in the comp bar Slater can

Yes, I guess but you can use the same tactic against Slater, really makes no difference there.

I'm just saying he is an opportunist when with the ball.

I agree But in all honesty I have not seen a fullback break the line from inside his own in goal off a grubber kick with such regularity like he does At least by putting it in the air If he does catch it in goal Its straighht out for a tap if he drops it you are achance of scoring I would prefer to kick high to the wingers late in the tackle count

As for his backing up ability there is little any coach can do to stop this Exce;pt try and stop the forwards getting offloads away which lead to breaks and inevitably Barba running on to the pass and scoring or backing up and scoring

Amazing attacking player and his defence and positional play is getting better week by week. His try saver on Luke Bailey yesterday was unbelievable!

Agreed 100%. And the one the week before on Kevin Locke. Seriously he is a absolute freak would be massive if he came to the Roosters.

If rumors are true and des is trying to get b.stewert to the dogs then we should make an offer for barba IMO he we will only improve although will never reach the heights of slater I think with time he will go in the same direction as slater...
