He was in a comfort zone with us for 2-3 years too long & we weren't benefiting from him no more. He was on good money & playing average for way too long.

Will always rate Cronk higher for the joy he brought with our B2B premierships & not Pearce for our wooden spoon & early finals exits.

Haven't even bothered to mention his off field indiscretions which affected the club. But once again I thank him for having a crack.
    Spot on mate.

Some people on here want to tell you the sky is a shade of azure rather blue just to show how edgy they can be.

In no universe does Pearce compare to Cronk in any way. Because he played nearly 250 games for us that automatically makes him better? A good club servant for sure but not much else. Good player, not average... but to say he is better than Cronk or was better for the club than Cronk was, please.

It speaks volumes to how shit a lot of our “fans” are to talk down about our own players who gave us one of the greatest periods of club history.
The longer this thread goes, the worse the takes get. If this page had weekly HIA checks you and Salvo would never be allowed to comment ever again. Clearly something is out of whack in the brains department.

The critics of players are just pissing in the wind as the bottom line is these players did or are doing something their critics could never do.

I don't think Pearce will be sweating over what random anonymous posters on a footy forum think of his career - he mde it and will always have the last laugh

Ok bud, with that logic we can all just delete our accounts given I don't think any of us have played first grade, so we can't formulate opinions of our own... unless of course, they are in line with yours or you play the resident rainman and provide us with filler statistics.

Good for Pearcey. Nothing against the bloke. I don't think he's laughing because as you said, its an anonymous footy forum.

Heaven forbid we have a different opinion to you. How dare we.

The criticism is of you putting Pearce ahead of Cronk when history shows Cronk achieved more in 2yrs than what Pearce did in 10.

Pearce decided he wanted to play well paid professional sport in the public eye which results in fans, media..etc.. having opinion on his performance & career.

Who cares how many games he played for us, it's the quality & not quantity.

In your perfect world everyone gets a participation award.

                  2. Tupou

                      Hard disagree.

Pearce is easily one of the most underrated players of the past decade.

He has been the number 1 punching bag for plenty of Roosters fans (and NSW fans) when there is a loss.

The reality is, he was always arguably the hardest working player on the field for us. And he was a good halfback, without being exceptional.

The Cronk comparison makes little sense to me - as an organising half, Cronk was light years ahead of any other halfback in the comp for a long time. No one could hold a candle to him. Doesnt mean Pearce is absolute dog shit.

He would have been better advised to bulk up and become a 9 or a 13 earlier in his career, as I think in those roles he would have really been exceptional.

Bottom line is, basically none of the armchair hero set rates him.

                      Pearce is very much underrated.

Totally agree. Pearce is not small, 182 cms and 92kgs.... same as Radley, I always thought he would be a great lock or hooker, but never a halfback.

I agree that he would have made a great hooker. He was tough and a great defender. Good kicker. And also on the NSW front against arguably the best footy team in history. But as a halfback he was mediocre at best. Little creativity or ability to grab a game by the scruff of the neck. He got way more leeway than he should’ve because of his surname.

You can bag him but he was definitely not mediocre at best. Mediocre is Adam Clune, Toby Sexton and Pearce would buy and sell them three or four times over. He was a good club footballer. He had limitations for sure, but he was far better than mediocre

My major annoyance with Pearce is that for a one month period at the back end of 2014 he played some absolutely brilliant football and deceived me into thinking he was about to take the next step by becoming a great halfback.

It turns out that that was the pinnacle of his career. As a whole 2013-2015 was his prime and you're thinking at the time that the club and Robbo have worked hard to develop a brilliant halfback who will crush it now in his late 20s and early 30s.

Instead we got his infamous 2016 pre-season and he never recovered.

                              Major let down.

Cronk is above Pearce on being a general but dont kid yourselves Pearce gave more to the Roosters physically & mentally.
He wasnt as good as Cronk who played 2 seasons but Pearce gave his all for 10 years. Pearcy was loved by the players & coaching staff because he played it tough & he gave it everything winning a comp.
Pearce & Jake Friend came through together & they both played it tough. Im glad Pearcey played for the Roosters but Im also very glad Cronk played for the Roosters.
