My guess is that JT's earning $$$ as the Bears have lotsa cashed up businessmen from the lower north shore backing them.
I reckon they've locked JT in long-term on a fat salary for that level of footy, hoping their outfit will be more like an NRL team than a semi-pro league.
JT and the Bears both have NRL ambitions.Last edited by ism22; 10-23-2022, 02:24 PM.

Pretty sure they're making provision for post match activities there like they used to before construction commenced.

The club generally has a few decent under 16 and 17 teams (Clovelly and Bondi United won their respective competitions in those age groups this year) so they could curtain raise the senior rep teams. Would be a terrific arvo and yeah if Waverely bowlo were open to host post game well I'm there.

Question Answered by Bears re next year Reserve Grade Comp
Will we be a feeder club to the Roosters or largely be standing alone with the Roosters drawing from their own NSWRL side?
For the 2023 season we will still be an active partner of the Sydney Roosters NRL squad.
Our players will be selected to move up to NRL based on performance and we will be welcoming back Roosters contracted players to the Bears NSW Cup team every week.
The Sydney Roosters will be utilising their SG Ball and Jersey Flegg players to feed into their NSW Cup side and the Bears will be pulling on our Hills Bulls partnership as our feeder.
The Hills Bulls Ron Massey Cup team were the Grand Final Premiers in 2023 and have a strong player base.
The players that are allowed to move between Roosters NRL & Bears NSW Cup and Roosters NRL & Roosters NSW Cup will be set and submitted to NSWRL prior to the season commencing in March 2023. This means we will know ahead of time which players will be pulling on a red & black jersey throughout the season.

NSW Cup sides can have up to 30 odd players in their squads as do Jersey Flegg squads
If the Roosters have a 30 player NRL squad and all fit then 11 players may be available for NSW Cup each week which would be pretty rare - injuries for instance
I recall the most that played in 2022 was 8 as usually on average it was 6 or so NRL Contracted Roosters players that played for Norths each week.
So Norths will need to sign quite a few players as will the Roosters to fill their NSW Cup Squads in 2023.
SG Ball players(Under 19's) won't be available till early May after the conclusion of that comp and would more than likely be playing Jersey Flegg if required rather than NSW Cup one would say.
Tyler Moriarty/ Xavier Va'a/Siua Wong from SG Ball did play NSW Cup though but that would be an exception to the norm as all 3 are being fast tracked one assumes.
Also Sandon Smith went from SG Ball and a few Games in Jersey Flegg before that comp was cancelled in 2021 to being a regular in NSW Cup in 2022
No Jersey Flegg Squad named as yet and it will be interesting to see if the Sydney Roosters field a team in the Sydney Shield again in 2023
A watch this space one in how this transition will work out going forward.

More importantly I am keen to see who goes where in the two teams. Will the fringe players be together, or will it be split and have two average sides?Last edited by Billy Gunn; 11-04-2022, 04:51 PM.
