from the limited time I have seen him play, JWH seems to play hard but fair... doesn't seem to be a grub like Gallen. Let's hope it stays that way.

I'd have Gallen in the top 5 players in our game at the moment. I really feel sorry for him because he is stuck with the sharks.

I wish our players played with half the heart that he shows. I can still remember his performance against us this year. Unbelievable.

I completley agree. A grub maybe but every side needs a gallen. he has done some dumb things but gets stuck in, leads well and is a great clubman off the field. Whilst I understand why some despise him, I would take him at our club in a minute

Tyro Kiwi lets his play do all the talking

LONDON: New Zealand debutant Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has revealed sledging by the Australians was the catalyst for his standout performance in the Four Nations opener, and says he did not respect the Kangaroos.

''[They] were calling me rookie or pup and saying, 'Give some respect to your elders,''' the 20-year-old said.

''When I put this jersey on, I've got no respect, apart from my brothers who I play with. I don't respect them.''

Waerea-Hargreaves, who played mostly in Manly's Toyota Cup side this year, with some first-grade matches thrown in, was best described as frenzied during his time on the field. He enthusiastically charged at the Australians as if his sole job was to unsettle them, which it probably was, as if his water bottle was filled with undiluted red cordial.

He said his time feeling slightly unsettled on the bench also played a role in the mayhem that followed.

''They [the coaching staff] told me earlier that I was going on after 15 [minutes], and I was trying to get my head around going on,'' said Waerea-Hargreaves, who will be a Rooster next season.

''To be out there was awesome. I just tried to play my own game, it was good to be out there. I was definitely enthusiastic. The feeling of being out there was just amazing, and I just got pumped from that. It was awesome.''

New Zealand coach Stephen Kearney was particularly taken by Waerea-Hargreaves's display, and with starting second-rower Bronson Harrison potentially ruled out for the rest of the tournament after the Canberra player suffered a calf injury in the second half, the 110 kilogram youngster is likely to get even more game time during the rest of the Kiwis' run through the tournament.

''That's a big part of Jared's game, aggression,'' Kearney said.

''He's a young guy that played a number of games in the under-20s competition this year.

''He's got a lot to learn as a young front-rower, but I'm glad he's with us, let me put it that way.''

Good on Sammy. JWH could do a lot worse than take some guidance and influence from him, both whilst on tour and when he arrives at the Roosters.

Better Sammy than some other characters in the Rooster ranks.

This bloke has the potential to have a really successful career, so long as he's steered in the right direction.

Could be the closest we've come to replacing 'Moz' in our lineup. There are certainly plenty of onfield similarities, particularly the wholehearted aggression.

Absolutely right roz. Boyd Cordner and Mose Masoe are two players who are extremely aggressive when they play, although I do enjoy seeing Jared Wearea-Hargreaves play and we'll need him to play the exact same role when he arrives here.

Who gives a toss what he said, he certainly backed it up on the field, for too long reputation over performance has ruled team selections at club and rep level, If that is how JWH plays and feels , good on him, respect your coach and team mates, the opposition can please themselves.

What is the point of respecting and being in awe of your opponant????

treat them for what they are, an opponant who would do every thing in their power to knock your head off at the first ooptunity.

Respect them after the game with a beer or cordial.
