Minimum wage, an Easts Junior who's of good character (put a massive bee in that unlicensed, cocaine-sniffng, dick-pic sharing 'victim' of a Pom's bonnet which deserves respect). Oh and he knows our systems! I dunno why we'd be actively trying to punt Smith for a guy who can't even make the 18 at Brisbane, let alone throwing a bucket of cash at an unproven replacement.

Herbie got significantly worse stats than Ryan Hall against France (Hall absolutely monstered France FWIW) and missed 2 tackles against Samoa (despite winning 60-6). Not saying he's cr@p but people are acting as if he's the same sorta quality as our current outside backs.

Happy to be proven wrong (and I'm not against his signing), but we've been on this ride before with gun English outside backs. Kevin Naiqama (yeeep... currently killing it despite not playing for a 1st tier country), Joe Burgess, Ryan Hall...etc all murdered Super League.

Surely you guys know the drill? It's not that these players are bad... it's just that modern NRL backs are freakish physical specimens. They're either dudes who wouldn't look outta place in the NBA/NFL (on size & athleticism), freakishly technical players who put most halves to shame or... well... increasingly both.

I won't personally be expecting this guy to set the house on fire, let alone be guaranteed any 1st grade footy. We need depth outside backs though, and I'd love it if competition between him/Smith/Momirovski results in Easts being stronger (may the best man win the contest for a starting spot!)

Herbie is going to be a star. Will be one of the best centres in the game in a couple of yrs. I'd have him in a heart beat.

I know you say you don’t watch many other league games bar roosters games, but he has been the broncos starting Center for the past 3 years.

Where are you getting this from? Farnworth has been their starting centre for a few years now, and was carving up before suffering a season ending injury last year.

Ism22 musbe getting Herbie mixed up with another Broncos player. As others have said I don't think he's ever played Reggies up there, and is a very good quality centre. Crikey the likes of Paulo, Allen or Mansauce aren't in the same postcode.

None of you know about him... we are Easts fans... not insiders... not Broncos fans... not England scouts. It's okay to be Joe Blogs.

So what do you do? GOOGLE HIM!!! The guy played a handful of games this season, but not many. I'm in no way saying he's shyte but he's in no way their best centre, let alone ahead of Staggs and Brenko in the pecking order.

                Broncos #1 backline is
                1. Te Maire Martin (NZ rep)
                2. Corey Oates (QLD rep)
                3. Katoni Staggs (NSW rep)
                4. Brenko Lee (QLD rep)
                5. Selwyn Cobbo (QLD rep)

53 games in 4 seasons. This season Farnworth has largely got a go when others were out for Origin (e.g. round 14).

Calm down and stop shooting the messenger! He's just not THAT good, even if he looks good during internationals.

Doubling down when you are proven wrong. Wake up and admit it. Farnworth has never been dropped by the Broncos, he has played 51 games in the last 3 years, got injured in round 14 this year. Won their award for BEST BACK in 2021. Ok now tell us what you are on about.

SOURCE? Gimme a source where he's getting picked over Staggs and Lee.

How many games did he play this year?

                    Why is he being released?

                    ---

Really am sorry to burst your bubble but this is getting ridiculous.

If you've got mail on the kid then put it out there instead of trying to insult me into backing down. I'm literally struggling to find anything on this guy other than that he had a good 2021 season and played for Man United's juniors. Zip. And not a lot of games this season... average of about 13 a year with 2021 making up almost 1/2 of those.

I'm not saying he's a deadbeat, I'm saying that he's not their #1 pick, let alone a particularly regular starter. The stats support this...

Lol he is 22 and has played 53 NRL games before tearing his bicep in round 14 verses Raiders, so he must be sort of ok to get over 50 games by 22 and miss over 10 games last season to injury.

he is not being released but testing his value on the open market.....perhaps the Broncos are not offering what he thinks he is worth as they are spending a stack on other players....

He is probably their number allround centre before his injury this year (ok Staggs might be slightly better attacker but Herbie leaves him for dead in the defense, workrate, etc) and was one of the few who really had a go in their in their lean years when he was barely 20 and 21. The kid can play, has a lot of heart and if he fulfils his potential at a strong NRL club then he will be in the top 5 centres in the game imo........

                      2021[edit]

In Round 23 or the 2021 NRL season, Farnworth kicked four goals from four attempts, leading the Broncos to a 24-22 win over the New Zealand Warriors, ending their finals hopes.

Farnworth won Brisbane's Allan Langer Award as their Best Back of The Year.

I think he has a lot of potential, defensively suspect but you can probably put a lot of that down to coaching and the system he plays in.

We were linked to him a few years ago as he was just breaking into first grade, so I think it's probably just an easy link for the media to make. I don't see us going into the market unless we lose Suaalii.

                                2. Is this an enquiry in case we lose Joseph Suaalii after next season ?
                                3. I don't think we would pay anything more than what he currently is on at the Broncos. If he wants to win/be successful then he can come to us (similar to Brandon Smith)
                                4. See below Roosters players summary (in my opinion)

                                Sydney Roosters 14

                                Renouf Atoni = Release
                                Fletcher Baker = Release
                                Egan Butcher = Must Extend
Drew Hutchison = Extend for one more season
                                Adam Keighran = Release
Terrell May = Extend only one more season
                                Victor Radley = Must Extend
                                Billy Smith = Release
Joseph Suaalii PO (2024) = Extend
                                Daniel Tupou = Extend
Jake Turpin = Wait and see in 2023
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves = Wait and see in 2023
                                Sam Walker = Must Extend
                                Connor Watson = Extend
A little harsh on Baker & Atoni.

Baker still only 22, baby years for a prop and a very unique build for a prop I don't think we'll see the best of him for another year or two.

Atoni looked good for the Bears, just really struggled with injuries this year. I would wait and see what he does this year with hopefully a clean bill of health.
