Was hoping for a nice sunny getaway against the Cowboys in Townsville in June , July or August after having to abort the trip there in 2020 because of the borders closing again but no.
Also no game down in Canberra, call me a masochist but i enjoy the trip down there and sitting in the freezing cold even though we quite often fail there. Otherwise a pretty meh draw, don't think i will be travelling further than Gosford for a game this year although a week away to Brisbane could get the Titans and also the Broncos game in in late July.

I love Melbourne as a city to visit so just booked flights to watch us down there in round 6. Nice little 3 nights away and I enjoy AAMI park

I love going to Melbourne and have been heaps of time but never for a Storm Roosters game, have tried to align it when the Roosters and Swans are playing down there on the same weekend but it never seems to happen. The game is on Thursday night before Good Friday and the Easter weekend, did you get decent airfares ?

No home games in May as we play “at home” during Magic round. Call me old school but I used to love it when every second week you knew you were playing at the SFS and kind of got into a rhythm.

Definitely a first world problem !!
Very rare nowadays and for a while now that any team play at home every second week - Also you have the situation where teams don't play all teams once before playing teams a second time.

Nick has said it best... the issue is that it isn't a draw, it's a negotiation process.

IMO they should do a draw and get a numbers dude to make all the key variables even. I get there's media deals and stuff but IMO stronger management could encourage adequate sponsorship $$$ while mitigating its influence on the scheduling / rules.

That said I can't get too worked up about it all. IMO when you're a good team, you make your own luck. Our problem in 2022 wasn't playing too many top teams (which nobody can pick anyway! Sharks, NQ and Parra top-4? Yeah nah... if anybody accurately tipped the top 4, I'll send 'em a box of the finest Dannemanns). Our problem was that we lost to deadbeat teams early on, forcing us to have to go out hard in the final rounds just to make the top-8 (which didn't help with our injuries/suspensions).

2013, 2018, 2019? We WERE the standard (also 2014/15 to an extent) so there was no anxiety about beating 'top-4 teams'. No disrespect to the Cows, Parra, Sharks, Drizz and Souffs in 2022 (oh fark it, I'vr got zero respect for Souffs or the Drizz - their fans can stand up from them)... IMO they were all ordinary and had no hope against the Riff. Our coach and roster shoulda finished top-4 and gone deep into the finals. The draw and quality of our opposition isn't the reason we farked up... we screwed up against lesser teams all throughout the season (consistently) and THAT is what put us under pressure.

In another parallel world we beat the Knights, Doggies and Merge, finished 2nd, had a week off after comfortably beating Cronulla/NQ (zero emotion in the game) and had a serious shot at winning a preliminary. IMO we can't blame the draw for 2022.

Today's Telucrap is running a headline about the Roosters fuming about the draw.
Can a subscriber please post it - thanks.

The Roosters have expressed their unhappiness with the 2023 nrl draw, claiming that the annual schedule is put together with too much influence from broadcasters.

Tri-colour chairman Nick Politis has maintained his belief that certain clubs are repeatedly drawn into ‘blockbuster' games, regularly scheduled because they're good for ratings.

“Please don't call it a draw. Can we get it right? It's a TV schedule,” Politis said, via the Daily Telegraph.

The Roosters will have to face four of last year's top five sides twice in the draw, and the perceived imbalance has led Politis to claim that “the afl have got control over their draw but we roll over to the networks.”

Politis has also called for the nrl to re-examine the infrequently-suggested conference system, akin to that used in the American NFL.

The Roosters maestro also claimed that the current imbalances in the draw were creating a false perception of an equal competition.

Nick has a point. The sharks this year and the Raiders next year you could make an argument they have a 6 to 8 point start on other teams

We arguably won all three premierships under Trent by building slowly into seasons. We were 5-5 after 10 rounds in 2018.

The Panthers have shown another (smarter) way I reckon. Get your points early and give yourself the option of rests pre-finals.

we had to play finals footy for two months just to make the finals. The Panthers were fresh as **** in the prelim and the GF and it showed

Flights were full freight but had a voucher that was expiring soon so worked out ok.

A big plus for me is the WSL is at Bells Beach over that period. I dont surf anymore but did growing up in the Eastern Suburbs and Ive always wanted to go to Bells and watch

Yeh Robby tells them not to try too hard in the early rounds.

We have something like 5 5-day-turnarounds in our draw. That’s ridiculous.
                            EASTS TO WIN!

We’re hoping to attend the opening game, very special occasion . Also the Melbourne game as we have relatives there whom we haven’t seen since before Covid. These are the only 2 games I’ll be going away to ( and Gosford). I’m planning to attend ALL Allianz games.
