He’s obviously not telling them to go out there and “play shit” but geez it’s not a hidden secret we’ve had a lot of success by peaking fitness-wise late in the season instead of at the start.

Panthers have set a new mould by seemingly being 100% every week.

How many seasons under Mary were the Dragons on top or near the top of the ladder after 2-3 months and then completely fizzled out?

There’s many ways to skin a cat. I hope we hit the ground running although given a huge portion of our squad won’t even train till late January it will be another challenge

If the clubs want an even draw where everyone gets treated the same, the clubs have to accept they will get less money from the broadcasters. Channel 9 won't pay the same to broadcast games involving Raiders/Warriors/Tigers/Titans as they will the big clubs. Channel 9 want more games with the big clubs playing each other. We always get a tougher draw because of that. What's sometimes overlooked is the commercial opportunities playing in more of those big games during the season gives the Roosters. Imo the perceived easiness or difficulty of a particular team's draw is largely a myth anyway. There are no easy games. If you play well enough during the regular season, you'll make the 4/8, regardless of who you play more often or less often.

Surely after this season though he must learn from the failures through the points we dropped?? Proved too costly in the end IMO

Oh sure... periodisation is a widely known tactic in relation to sports (see https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_periodization).

That said, I dunno if anybody's questioned our team's strength and endurance training. I think it's our lack of cohesion and consistency throughout the season that burns.

I think part of our issue is that while the Riff have had Edwards (who is getting close to Teddy IMO!!!), Luai and Cleary (who is THE form half)... injuries and other changes have meant that various spine players have come in and out of the squad. We don''t gel like the Riff do yet. It always seems to take time. I don't think Robbo wants/plans it this way... past 2 seasons he's accepted responsibility for it too.

The Roosters will be fine no matter what draw they get.
The Tigers are the ones that must be spewin.

                100%

The losses to absolute dross like Newcastle, Canterbury and Saints on Anzac Day arguably destroyed our season by the end. You can’t lose games like that. And we were lucky to beat the Warriors at home too in the same period

Our inability to consistently compete with the top teams is the biggest worry. Yes we've had excuses but fark it's been a horrendous few years against Souths,Penrith and Storm

I thought this year we started to turn the tables… Earned a very solid, rewarding win at AAMI and should of won at Bluebet too if it wasn’t for that absolute shocking ref performance.

Souffs though… let’s talk about that another time.

Also surely the "experiment" between keary and walker is over so the team should benefit from better stability in the halves from round 1.

People say teams have easy or hard draws but you can't predict how teams will perform the following season though.

Also during the season teams may play other teams who are in the 8 during those rounds but ultimately miss the 8 - At seasons end those games are deemed games against bottom 8 sides though.

Penrith played more games against top 8 sides than any of side in 2022 with 14 games and it didn't affect them one has to say.

When an 18th team is admitted they need to look at conferences and if they expand to 20 team then divisions as this will be only way the draw will be fair as all teams in the same conference or division will play the same sides the same number of times.

They wont like an all Sydney team Conference nor would Sydney teams like all QLD teams being in the same conference either

If 18 Teams then Conferences such as the following for an example

                        Conference 1

                        Roosters
                        Souths
                        Sharks
                        Dragons
                        Dolphins
                        Broncos
                        Storm
                        Knights
                        Warriors

                        Conference 2

                        Panthers
                        Eels
                        Tigers
                        Bulldogs
                        Sea Eagles
                        Cowboys
                        Titans
                        Raiders
                        Perth Bears

                        If 20 Teams

Either 5 conferences of 4 teams or 4 conferences of 5 teams
