It’s a big ask for Suaalii to stay on the wing though for 2 years… I seriously believe after another pre season he will be way too good for that spot.

Although I think Suaalii could be a devastating back rower along the lines of SBW, or better, and may well be in the future, I also think he could be great at either fullback, wing or centre.

His performances at fullback in the world cup have been a real revelation and show great growth.

He is 10 times better at fullback than Mitchell was at the same age back in 2016.

But the best option for us right now, and also for his growth in the game is for him to play wing.

I can't see Teddy playing centre, NEVER. He's a fullback, possible a 5/8th.... but that's it. No one could afford to buy him and play him at centre.

Realistically it's hard to imagine us having Teddy, Manu, Suaalii and Keary in the same team in 2 years time, just because of the salary cap, that's at least $3.5 million for those 4. I reckon Keary would be the one to go, then possibly Joey could move to 5/8 .

Will Suaalii be better than Turbo ? Better than Mitchell ? I think so.

Teddy said during the season that he would be open to playing in the halves if it meant the club can hold onto Manu and JS. Whether it is the right move or not I reckon this is what happens over the next 2 years with Kez moving into an early retirement

You know Cronk played 4 Grand Finals and won 3 after he turned 32 in 2015.
Great for club loyalty and inspiring players to join our club and take unders to stay with us. NOT.
Not at all. The discussion was about whether we could retain all three. If they all want to stay for unders, then we wont have a problem.
In any case, the one club player category has already sailed for Teddy.

As for Cronk and others who have continued to play well into their mid 30's, they are the exception rather than the rule and while Tedesco may very well be one of those, only time will tell.

I just do not get your point.... you say let him go, do him a favor etc , then you backtrack. What i said is correct. He's a deadset champion, our captain, best player in the league.... Nicko Hynes couldn't lace his boots. I would let anyone else go before Teddy.

                Ok, so some perspective.

The discussion started concerning our ability to retain all 3 at the end of 2024. IMO it may come down to a business decision regarding players longevity and at this stage I see far more upside in re-signing the 2 Joeys. Loyalty from either parties was never a consideration but I admit that it will more than likely play some part in the decision, if it needs to be made.

My comment about 'doing him a favour' was tongue in cheek and is more a reflection on the fickle nature of some posters on this forum who are quick to criticise. There have been times in the 2 previous seasons where Teddy's been criticised for over involvement, trying to do too much and no connection with those around him. I can only imagine what he and the club will cop as he slows and if his form drops off - especially if we retain him over either of the 2 Joeys.

Like I said, its all hypothetical. We wont even get to make, be involved or sway any of the decision makers. The best we can do is punch away on the keyboard and give praise or hurl abuse depending on the outcome.

Football participation numbers are higher than the other football codes combined for starters - A lot of folk follow the EPL/Bundesliga/Serie A/ Laliga and other International Domestic Leagues also and the A-League.

Dwight Yorke needs to get the Macarthur Bulls playing more consistent Football though.

Be interesting to see the FTA viewing numbers the upcoming Men's FIFA World Cup attracts compared to the Men's Rugby Union World Cup - No use comparing it to the Men's Rugby League World Cup as no FTA TV station bid to even show it.

Rugby League is more of a chance of going bankrupt or becoming an even more irrelevant minor sport world wide one has to honestly say - they certainly need England/Great Britain to be more competitive and continue to be so - France who knows if they will get better - New Zealand and Australia will continue to be up there- PNG will be competitive up until when playing Tier 1 Nations.

Hanging on just at the moment with Tonga and Samoa being competitive but how long will that last once these current crop of players hang their boots up.

It will also be interesting to see what happens to Tonga/Samoa/Cook Islands and Fiji for instance in the generations to come though - currently able to field teams under the parents/grandparents rules.

They will more than likely have to change that to Great Grandparents /Great Great Grandparents for Tonga/Samoa/Cook Islands/Fiji to field competitive sides in the RLWC into the future

The Population of these Countries Tonga 108k / Samoa 210k / Cook Islands 17k / Fiji 912k does not indicate that the game would be able to go through any real growth in those countries and the ship has well and truly sailed on the US.

Rugby is the number 1 Football code in those countries as it is in New Zealand and is Second to Football in the UK. The Only Country where Rugby League is the National Sport is PNG - 9.3 Mill - can you see them ever winning a RLWC?
The Pacific Island nations are only strong because their decent players have learned their craft in the Australian competition. Take that away and they'd be getting flogged by 100.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I'm not questioning soccers popularity around the world. I'm questioning your ridiculous notion that soccer is more popular then league in Australia. If it was so popular it would be played in winter and splashed all over our TV's but you have to dig around to find which channel it's on. The socceroos could walk past most people in the street on the eastern seaboard and nobody would even recognise them that's how popular they are
