I dont think its too bad an idea. He has had a few years to ponder his errors and we did have 3 very good years with him .He has a better record than Smith he has won a comp.
I say do it.Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Byrne was superb in 2002 and 2003. He gets ankle tapped in the GF, struggles to gain full pace and gets tackled into touch. If he wasn't tackled into touch he'd be treated as an unsung hero of our 2002 (and 2003 if we could have won it?) premiership. Nothing wrong with picking him in the grand final

He wasnt a big game player he was always looked upon as a liability by the coaching staff and thats why he was dropped for 2002 as for 2003 Gould told him not to play Byrne and the blue with each other started there.
I will never forget walking to the GF2003 into the stadium and one of my mates said what do you reckon ? My reply was I am very worried about Byrne he is too slow he could cost us tonight and I really did expect to give Penrith a touch up.Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Hmmm, Ricky Stuart back at Easts as coach? Interesting idea. I understand some members of the Roosters Board (yes, the obvious ones when you think about it) love Sticky and would have him back at Easts any day.
I hear Uncle Nick hated having to sack Ricky in the first place and he publicly said he would never have sacked him if he didn't think the Bennett deal was signed, sealed and delivered.
Despite some of Ricky's weaknesses, his strenghts as a coach are many. I think he is a great coach of high quality teams. Perhaps not such a great coach of under-strenght or struggling outfits.
Before rushing to criticise him too much, ask yourself the question... what other coach has guided Easts to three grand finals in a row, including a premiership, plus a minor premiership and a world club championship, any time in the last 35 or so years?
