Players always seem to be on a higher salary once it's announced that they are leaving early. I was never a fan of his signing and he did nothing to prove me wrong in his stint here.

100% agree, Baker has huge potential, plenty of skill, plus size and is only 22 years old. I would hate to lose him.

He’s a very good defender, his mobility in the middle of the park for a prop is exceptional. Arguably our best middle-third defender, certainly the safest. No forward in our squad last year conceded fewer linebreaks per 100 tackles as Baker.

He has an effective offload, more for recycling use of the play than creating anything but his big frame makes it very hard for opposition defenders to lock up the ball. Only Angus Crichton out of the forwards in our current squad threw an offload at a more frequent rate than Baker.

He isn't a liability with ball in hand despite being a more mobile runner and more frequent offloader. Of the forwards in our squad he averaged the fewest errors per run taken at 1 error for every 50 carries.

And I really like the mobility he offers our midlde third, I'm not saying we are devoid of it. Certainly with Watson & Egan Butcher there's some great leg speed and mobility there but neither run an unders line as well as Baker does. His ability to cut back across the ruck and find space around the markers is something we don't have anymore since Liu left.

There's plenty for him to work on but he's a 22yr old prop forward with 30games to his name. I think it's extremely premature to be writing him off this early. I know there will be parts of the Rugby league world who will never rate him because he's not your up and down, agro prop forward but we've seen it before with Isaac Liu not every prop has to offer the same thing. We've already got some great props who can play that role.
