Mate its probably in Paddington & would cost around 2.5 mil maybe a bit more so he's done well. He's a country boy so he's probably not over materialistic.
He probably owns it outright & it will be a great stepping stone for him to buy something better in the future.

Thanks for the heads up though.

True... nothing around that part of town's gonna be cheap (and as you say, he probably owns it outright). Guess what I mean is 'modest' in comparison to his earnings. It's not exactly the biggest, most glam pad on the street (2br apartment inside a complex).

I reckon he would. He's had...
- 7 years of NRL, with at least 4 years on ~$600k
- 11 Origin appearances (what do they get, ~$20k a game)
- 5 Kangaroos appearances (similar story)
- Third party endorsements (e.g. appearing on Maccas ads and stuff)
PS - I didn't really mean for this thread to speculate about how much it's worth or whether he owns it outright though. It was really just a random comment about how I was expecting him to have something a little bit bigger than a 2br apartment

He would be paying close to 50% in tax. Even if he put all of his nett pay on his mortgage and has eaten beans on toast for the last 5 years, I still don't think he'd go close.

Sliding scale , 50% on a certain amount would end up with about $350k on 600k plus whatever else he earns

Yep you're right... he's broke and there's no way he'd be able to afford a 2br apartment on $600k+ a year
I know where his place is. It’s worth minimum $3.5m. How many 26 year olds live in a $3.5m pad? He’s one man. It’s all he needs. I like his art too. Beautiful home. Well done Angus and congratulations.

NRL players are taxed the same as the average Jane and Joe and have the same financial year - 1/7 to 30/6
$180,001 and over
$51,667 plus 45 cents for each $1 over $180,000
Clubs/sponsors would provide most things to NRL players at least so not a lot tax deductions available nowadays
Fines and legal expenses for onfield and off field discretion's
Manager fees ( if they have one)
If earning 600k would make around 360k post tax - 30k a month or so
