Cold? Baaah. People say Canberra's cold but when your house is insulated properly and you have modern heating, I dunno if it really is.
That said, having lived in a thin, leaky ~40's shack in a part of Japan where it snows heavily (with only a kero heater to keep me warm) I find it hard to call anything in Australia 'cold'. In Canberra it'll be -2'C overnight and people will be whinging that it's freezing. My house is pretty bog standard and it doesn't get below ~18'C. IMO we just built houses really poorly when we moved to a lot of these places and forgot to insulate them...

For a while she's felt quite sad/helpless because we have a big block at the end of a peninsular (probably doxed us there but whatevz) and 99% of the houses around us are now McMansions on little ~450m2 blocks. In the past all these blocks were little ~70m2 fibro shacks where the kids would sleep in bunks, you'd eat really basic food (BBQ fish / lobsters from the sea, shared outdoors with neighbours...etc) and there was a shared understanding that locals could all use various 'private' paths to the beach (including the one down from our block).
Times changed. People are VERY serious about their boundaries now. This has formed multiple boundary conflicts that never existed (when houses were tiny and you could just cut across 'the bush' as only locals used the area). Mum fought this for YEARS and was really battling with it when she lost her house to the fires.
This weekend I visited her and she's much happier. Also, she seems to be at peace with the fact boundaries now matter as she's been able to leverage this to her own adventure. In short her house (not many others on the point) burned down and she's been able to use the opportunity to block-off a path that illegal fishermen were using (to raid an island zoned for indigenous fishing), re-landscape the block so people can't park outside and build a structure that prevents people from raiding her block to have piss-ups (using our outdoor furniture) and take wedding photos (there's a LOT of photos online that are show people doing this... which she disliked, but she also felt evil going and closing off her boundaries as there was a lot of shared understanding about such things from a bygone era).
I dunno! I rant but it makes me so happy to see her embracing the change as she was getting quite irate about the boundaries, losing her house and other 'political' matters. She now seems to be at peace with the fact she's getting a new house that's termite-proof, properly insulated, has modern appliances and properly prevents the public from running amok on her land. It's taken a lot for her to accept this (particularly at her age) but it's awesome to see her being all positive and looking forward to using the land for what it is rather than dwelling on what it was back in the 50's.

I believe Rads was given inside information that the SOO rules are going to be changed & thats why he chose to play for England.
Rads has been extremely unlucky with injuries that cruelled him from playing SOO which enabled Yeo & Murray to get the jump on him which meant that he was going to miss out on playing at the World Cup for Australia.
Because Rads is such a footy head & a very good player he decided to play for England which made them a better team & made the World cup a better event.
Im proud of him.

Nice try though, ay.
I’m not a fan of real estate agents or that industry bunch of parasites who will suck every dollar out of a buyer if they can even if they know the buyer is paying way too much
I reckon 1.5 million for that block they’ve sucked Suuaalii dry Mind you I’m sure if he holds it for ten years he will do wellWhen you trust your television

Real Estate agents can charge upto 3.55 commission or higher depending on the area/region of the properties in question - that's where the money is in that caper as the agent could receive 60% plus of the commission with the rest split between others who worked on the sale of the property if entitled to commissions.
Auctioneering is not such a high paying job as per below but of course the higher they can sell the property for the more they can make from their split of the commissions if paid commissions.
