the reason for mitch's strong form of late is that he is starting to take control and the initiative and is pushing braith out of the way. he has created everything good in attack for us this year and his support play and running game should not be discounted. i think we are being too harsh on friend in particular. between friend, mitchell and even mortimer we have plenty of spark around dummy half thats for sure. mini is playing excellently well and isnt as slow as some on here are proposing. his link up play with wider men should also be commended. having maloney slide into 6 will really ignite our attack not necessarily because he is individually brilliant but because he will take pressure off mitch and like mitch and carney, is an excellent support player and hole runner as well as good ball player with good speed which suits our attack perfectly. Dont be fooled, throw in maloney and our 'spine' will be fine. the idea that everyone needs a spine like the storm is BS. not only does our team rely on our spine but we also have blokes like maubs, SKD, moga, taka, BJ floating around providing us with strike power out wide

Bring in Morts, at the expense of Mitch Cumstein.

The biggest difference in Pearce's game has come about due to a coaching change.
Suddenly, we have adopted a game plan that works to his strengths (organised, well-directed play coupled with taking the line on) as opposed to his weakness (floating around in no particular direction, trying to pull this "ad-lin" crap out of his arse).
The great thing is, he is still dealing with poor service from Friend and Anasta's mystical retard bullshit (I honestly don't know how else to describe what this bloke does with the football). This means he can and will only get better as Friend improves and Maloney comes in.
Roz, I agree with a lot of what you say, but I don't think people are too harsh on Friend. His service is average at best (cannot pass off the ground, has to pick up the ball, wind up and then release, which puts pressure on his halves), his speed out of dummy half is quite good, but his decision making at the line is abonimable. Once he gets to the defensive line, having made a handy 8-9 metres out of dummy half, he looks to play sideline to sideline rather than tryline to tryline. He spins in circles, crabs across field, never threatening because he doesn't have the size or speed to break clear himself. He needs to keep playing towards the opposition's tryline - poke his nose through and use his momentum, put a kick in behind their forwards, get his arms PAST the tackle and pop an offload round the corner, etc. etc.
At one point last night he went down the blind and put in a lovely little kick for Carney (I think). Unfortunately it got a bad bounce and just dribbled into touch, but that is the kind of stuff I'd like him doing more often, not spinning on the spot and losing all the momentum he's gained.

Having said that my friend... one thing I do know for damn sure as mustard, is that Smith and co can't coach any more in the modern NRL... we are an uncoached rabble of an outfit, winning ugly on talent alone...
How I dream of a day the talent the Roosters have at our disposal, will play with a real coach (who actually cares) in charge...
Bring on Bellamy or Stuart...
This club needs ABS...

Oh, and he's not Brian Smith. Or Craig Bellamy for that matter. And he's certainly not Wayne Bennett.
