In my books Friendy was great .Was not that slow but could've ran more but hey who is complaining when he averaged over 50 tackles a game. The Chesse should be the buy of the year.
all of them have nothing on Mundine though.

pretty sure Gould said Andrew Walker was the most talented player he has ever seen…. Would have been great to see him under Robbo In the modern system

Oh that would mean another fullback to try and slot into our backline ?
I know Walker could play in the halves, but I thought fullback was his best spot. He could pick and choose when to inject himself into the backline ..probably the best hole runner we've had

A little before my time. My earliest memory of our nine was Trewella and then Wayne Marshall.

Rakes were generally pretty pedestrian out of dummy half until Benny Elias revolutionised the hooker role.

They were previously recruited on their ability to scrummage, rake and defend the middle.

That changed around about the above mentioned period though, and the dummy half became an overt and crucial point of attack.

Very true. A few throwbacks from time to time though. Probably had few yards on Mountier and Masterman but Simon Bonetti is an all-time favorite of mine. Hard, no nonsense, great defender.

The first hooker I can remember getting out of dummy half and creating anything around the ruck was Ray Brown at the magpies in the late 70s who then went over to the silvertails in the 80s along with a few others in that rough Roy Masters Wests team.
Agree on Benny as much as I didn't like him he completely changed the position and had the vision of a half back.

If I ran the club, I'd never re-sign a player who did an ACL or got a long term injury. That injured part of the body remains permanently weak. 2 or more concussions would be enough for me too.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

So you would have let JWH go in 2015, Teddy never brought to the club, Keary gone before 2019, Sitilli gone, Lodge gone - no Brandon Smith no Lindsay , Radley gone - but don't worry we have Hutch for cover and Slo-Mo for depth.
