It's not as if it's the week leading up to the grand final. Fans are entitled to know this sort of information.
The NSWRL have released the draws for all their comps in 2023 - Junior and Senior Reps.
There has been no announcement by the Sydney Roosters of their Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup Squads for 2023 plus what players will be allocated to North Sydney in the final season of this agreement.
Nothing about them teaming up with the Glebe Dirty Reds either which they have done.
It's a mystery - Bermuda Triangle or North Korean like

That said, is there really a benefit in telling members first? If you tell members (which no doubt includes Fox employees/journos...etc), they'll post it online immediately anyway.
I tend to think that the only 'secrecy' is a legitimate 'doctors are still assessing this'. The 'NRL Physio' seems to have a decent eye for common sports injuries (despite not being a doctor) and makes a name for himself by putting them out there. Not sure how he sees them all in real time or gets all the inside medical info, but I'd guess that those who require minute-by-minute updates can use such sources.
IMO another factor is that there's no benefit in letting the world know how our pre-season's going. There's a fair bit of time until round 1 and players' medical records are their own private business.

Its not going to win or lose us 2 comp points regardless of who knows what.
Members should get first dibs, and regular ones. I think its more slackness and taking things for granted by the club. Fans need some off season engagement.#We Stand with ourJewish community#

NRL Physio posted the following
Crazy that it’s now 2 weeks since Connor Watson suffered a potentially serious knee injury & there has been radio silence from the Roosters. I’m all for insular injury reporting when it has a competitive advantage, but surely informing the fans here has very little downside

Spotted on the central coast shopping still in leg brace & in a wheelchair.

Will be interesting to see over the season how Smith/Cheese goes with his media commitments given he is a notorious over-sharer of the inner sanctum (for better or worse, makes for interesting discussion).
We are notorious for not revealing anything and this latest issue with Watson proves that. As a lot of people have said already, perfectly normal to keep quiet before a big run of games during the season but not when its pre-season and we are confirming if it's ACL or patella.
Only thing I can think of is maybe Watson isn't getting offered a new deal and the club have agreed to help him out by withholding that he's done an ACL so he can get a good deal elsewhere? That could be me massively overthinking though. Especially if we don't see him for rest of the season, it'll be implied he's done his ACL anyway.

The NRL and the club's still have an element of amateur hour when you compare how they're run to the NFL or NBA.
