I like the 18th player change... wouldn't have won us the game but it was absolute bollocks during our 2022 final how we weren't able to use our 18th man after Souffs intentionally rubbed players out with head injuries.
That said, I remain skeptical of ANY need for change. My overall concern with the other changes is that we won't fully understand what they mean until a few rounds in when we realise they've fundamentally altered how the game's adjudicated.

And they should keep making changes to fasten up the game and stop all the BS “HIA” lying down rubbish. They brought in the six again rule to keep the game flowing yet the bunker interference seems to make the 80 minutes longer than ever.

Grounding the Ball
So the re-grip is gone - have to see how this separation is ruled upon
18th Player
From 3 to 2 failed HIA's before an 18th player can be activated
I think the number of reserves / subs need to be looked - why not have 2 Reserves (18th and 19th player )
Teams reduce their squads down to 19 players 24 hours before kickoff and then name their 17 player team 1 hour kick off including who the 18th player is so the 19th player could also be a reserve
Intervention of the Bunker
I can see this opening a can of worms in what is and what isn't reportable - Is that a role for the bunker or should it be the domain of the match review committee ?
Captains Challenge
Have to see how this will work as it doesn't seem like a major change
Offside Infringements at scrums
Obviously to reduce the number of 6 again's that can be awarded and stop teams from deliberately conceding penalties
Have to see how many sides will elect to re-pack the scrum rather than take the penalty - most likely attacking teams will elect to re-pack the scrum when in the opponents 20 metres
Is this a differential penalty - i.e teams can't kick for goal from these penalties?
The Grey area maybe the penalty being awarded against any team which deliberately locks the ball in the scrum to trap defenders in an off-side position.
Adjudication of completed tackles
From 2 calls of held then release to one call of held/release - hopefully this will mean the decline of the third man in rubbish - when the ball carrier is held in a catch and hold tackle I assume the ref will be able to call held/release thus reducing the needless participation of a third defender.Last edited by King Salvo; 01-12-2023, 06:36 PM.

Cant challenge 10m offside penalties or 6 agains.
Hmmm the one thing that they seem to hammer us on regularly. Wouldn't want to show them up for some of the ridiculous bee's d**k offside ones they blow on us at times.
Also they still have "discretionary" (hehe) 6 again phantom calls up their sleeve.

We will win it this year, despite the fabricated fairness.
Go Easts!
