Whilst mathematically sensical I also recall the great Parra sides of the 80s and the Broncos of the 90s were notorious slow starters often losing their first 4 or 5. Its about finding form at the right time. Mind you our wins have had nothing to do with form so Ill take the bonus points. But the comp, even the 8 isnt sorted. For instance, I believe Cronulla and us will miss the 8.

Also, he has tweeted that he blames nobody but himself. Forget the paper talk. He regrets not being at our club.

And whilst on the subject of idiotic retention and recruitment, Gallen has set a record as the first forward to run for more than 200 meters five weeks in a row. Have we even had a forward do it once? Not just this game. Not just this season. Ever?
Gallen's efforts are reminiscent of Rodney Howe.

I'd be interested to know whether he's been tested.

I'm not proud. He carries a hell of a load. He's Ricko with ball skills.

Are you sure.. All the ones I know went nuts that they kept Anasta and let Thurston go.. The Dogs punted him for discipline issues but he was always going to be class.

I remember a night at Homebush watching Easts V Bulldogs and Thurston played reserves. They could not stop bagging him. I personally didnt hear anything good about him. Having said, pissed off for disciplinary reasons doesnt surprise me given the little turd was up to his you know what in all sorts of trouble (Coffs comes to mind). Even now you hear him talk and laugh and he comes across as a brainless dickhead, that can play football behind a strong forward pack. On his own he's not as great as people make out.

He wouldnt have lasted 6 months at Bondi.

                "There goes The Chemist"..

                "Run at me needles"..ROFLMFAO..

I'd rather a dickhead with mad football skills over a nice guy who can't play for shit.

Compare how many non-soccer fans know who Maradona is versus how many non-soccer people know who Gary Lineker is?

I only chose Lineker because if I'd gone for a non-F.A. cup player, I'd be cheating. It's a bad comparison because Gary Lineker was a pretty damned good player but Maradona was infinitely better.

And besides that, the only two things I could get Pelé for were starring in Escape to Victory and flogging Cialis.

I was watching him on the footy show a few weeks ago and it occurred to me that he was actually retarded. That continual laughing is truly disturbing.

I know the night you are talking about in 2003. Eric Grothe Jr ran over him about 4 times from scrums.. He had issues coff coff.. and not just the infamous year when all the trouble took place.. The Dogs cut their losses but the management knew he had huge talent. We had a great forward pack back then though remember. From memory though I thought we went with Braith rather than Thurston.. Thurston was only off contract at the end of 2004.

So the dogs did with Thurston what we did with Carney???

And I agree watching him on the Footy Crap Show is painful. He comes across as a complete airhead.

Not quite.. Thurston was off contract and they did not try to match the NQ offer.. We released Carney.

But it was his off-field issues which drove them to not try and match NQ?

                              • We got offered Thurston when we signed Finch and again in 2004.

                                The price - $40K....
