    THE LAST WORD

HEAVY hitters at the Roosters liked my suggestion when it came to Jarryd Hayne. After revealing that the representative fullback was lacking support among his Eels teammates, Roosters officials contacted me to say they are aware of when Hayne is off contract - at the end of next season - and it could allow them to reward veteran No.1 Anthony Minichiello with a contract for 2013. There is some ill-feeling between sections of the Roosters and the Eels and pinching Hayne would be seen as quite a nice square-up. With most of the best fullbacks tied up, the Roosters could do a lot worse than give ''Mini'' another year. Hayne read my item last week which revealed players were not supporting him - he did not dispute that - but slammed suggestions he was not getting on with Chris Sandow, something that is being freely discussed in the Souths camp. When it comes to Sandow he sent a picture of him embracing his halfback. "Zero friction between me and this bloke. Wanted to make it clear that the rumours are utter rubbish. His (sic) my brother from another mother. EXCLUSIVE."

    You know it makes sense.

Sounds good to me as long as he doesn't bring his 'brother from another mother' with him

Sounds great. Mini had turned back the clock these last few weeks and if he keeps it up a final contract is something I'd b happy for him to sign. Bring Hayne in after that and keep Mini on as fullbacks coach.

Fullbacks coach LOL. I'd like to see Mini employed as an all round life coach for the boys.

If they extend mini I would hope RTS might be ready in another yr, the kid looks to be a bit of a freak

so if i'm reading that right, somebody from the club contacted Weedler to say that we may be after Hayne.

What nonsense is this? Why do we need to keep weedler informed of our recruitment?

He won't come here while Smith is still the coach.

Smiths contract expires at the end of next year so i doubt this would be a problem.

What if we have a really strong year in 2013. You don't think Brian's contract would be renewed?

The Hayne train should only be travelling on the western suburbs lines.

Not unless Fred69er gives his otter of approval.

If this is based on the assumption that he was upset about being held back from first grade it's crap.

Hayne is exactly the type of player we need, he's the creative player we've been crying out for. Giving Wells & RTS the chance to prove themselves before making a decision is the right thing to do but if they don't this would be a 10x better signing than SBW.

Hayne had a golden run of about ten games three years ago. Got himself a massive contract and has done nothing since.

Hayne has got more attack in his left toe than our whole side put together..

He just plays for a team of cripples..

He's got head & ego issues though..
