  • Better Spine than 2018/19?

Teddy, Sammy, Keary & The Cheese compared to Teddy, Cronk, Keary & Friend/ Verrills.

Imo this year's team edge them just out on paper & expectations but of course they haven't proved nothing yet & time will tell if they can match & better the 18/19 Legendary Team.

Only the Storm this year has an equal spine compared to us with Pappyhouse, Munster, Hughes & Grant.

I believe there's something special in the works for the next 2-3yrs. Throw in Joey & Suaalii I can see point scoring records being broken this year.

Jake Friend is our best hooker in 100 years and is on the Mt Rushmore of club legends post WWII so it'll take a careers worth of achievement and blood spilled before the Cheese can be mentioned alongside him (no doubt capable).

And Cronk earned lifetime membership in two seasons with b2b comps. So again Sammy will have to earn the right to be mentioned in the same breath (also capable).

For now though, Cronk and Friend are two ice cool club legends and as good a half/hooker defensive combo as the game has seen this century.

So 2018-2019 every day for me.

Sammy and Cheese could polish Cronk and Friend's boots at this stage.

Teddy and Keary can polish their own.

Yeah fair call but on paper at this stage (which doesn't mean much) I see us much more strengthened attack wise with Sammy over Cronk & Smith over Friend. Time will tell.

18/19 also benefited from Lattrell being in beast mode all season & the unbreakable Bondi Wall.

This team look to have points in them everywhere & will trouble everyone potentially.

At this stage, absolutely not even close. Cronk is one of the great halfbacks to ever play the game and Friend is a club icon, probably the best defensive hooker in the game during his pomp in an era that had great hookers.

Teddy in 2022-2023 is better than Teddy of 2018-2019 just because he's added so much more to his game.

In contrast, I reckon Keary 2018-2019 sh-ts all over the current Kez unfortunately as he's gone the opposite of Teddy and largely through no fault of his own, just age and injuries.

Sammy has all the potential in the world but still miles away from where he can be.

Agree with Keary but not sure about Teddy.

Once Cronk left Teddy has at times been trying to do a bit too much. I reckon under Cronk he had the right balance.

Pass the dutchie to the left hand side Spert - you've had enough!

I'd argue that Teddy, Cronk, Keary and Friend is the A-Team...

That said, I haven't seen our current spine in action (let alone at the back-end of 2023 where I HOPE they are all firing). I doubt we're gonna see either of our halves play like Cronk, so 2018 still wins for me. However Cronk's no longer playing so I don't really give a stuff.

IMO Cleary's the standard to beat right now. I think our 2023 spine can at very least match the current-day invincible spine if Edwards, Cleary, Luai and Koroisau (or whoever's replacing him for 2023, sorry that I don't follow the Riff's movements that much).

                          Simply, no.

I'd go further, and say Faifax/Schubert, Peard, Mayes and Walters was better.

Sammy is talented, but no Cronk, and we can only hope Keary gets back to the sort of form he displayed a couple of years ago. If he does, we could be in for a good year.

Haha, l'll pay that. I dropped it laughing at your post.

Didn't expect much support on this but I'm confident this Spine will be equal to or better than 18/19. (If Keary is around)

They will miss Koroisau more than they realise.
