I told my kids that if they ever supported the Vermin, then they can go and live under another roof!

I also screen any new friends they make, by casually asking if they follow the footy and who they support …

Very responsible. Man is known by the company he keeps.

That Easts's colours are synonymous with the Australian flag, was enough to make me support them. Back in the day, my uncle took me to Jubilee Oval to watch St George play Wests (John Ribot era). Did absolutely nothing for me. Then I went to a St George match with some school mates. Still had no idea what was going on and only jumped to my feet whenever they did...just so it looked like I knew what was going on. That year, Saints made the GF and all my mates were supporting the Dragons. Just to be different I said I'd go for Easts. They went on to win 38 nil, but I only found out about it the following Monday at school. Footy meant nothing to me in the 70s, but my sister once shared a hospital room with Artie Beetson's daughter and I got his autograph so, that and the 38-0 victory stayed with me - and the rest is history. I never really felt the need to buy things just coz they were RW&B.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Try The French Flag, and also they have the Rooster as their emblem.

It wasn't John Ribot de Bresac era as he was known as then as he came down from Brisbane to play for Newtown in 1978.

No one would swap footy cards with me for his as no one knew who he was so I still have it along with Paul Hayward's

We all thought John Ribot de Bresac was a French League player as well you didn't see or hear a lot about the Brisbane comp

[QUOTE=Batemans Bay Rooster; I often consider how fortunate we are to have such beautiful colors that go together so well, and such a magnificent jersey. I pity some of the other clubs with their awful farkin mish mash colors and their appalling, totally forgettable jerseys.

Yep all of those blue and yellow jerseys and now another red and white. Since the RWB is unavailble (Newcastle have had a sneaky go at it) they're all bereft of ideas. The Riff's westie Day Glow colours are the bottom of a deep barrel. Should've stuck with the brown & white, maybe added red - RW& Brown? Close to the RWB - something might've rubbed off.

Did I say what year my uncle took me to the footy? I just said 'back in the day' because all i can remember is seeing Ribot playing and thinking how good he was. Perhaps I shouldn't have started my next sentence with 'then' which gives the appearance that the 38-0 event came after my outing with my uncle.

Oh Carlos. Dont worry about Sally He is always one to come in with the correction or I told you so. I for one thoroughly enjoyed your story. I consider you as one with real potential to make this place a little bit richer with the diverse characters we have here and look forward to more contribution from you this season
