  • Rothfield/Tele Article Linking us to Dom Young

According to DT/Rothfield, Dom Young met with Robbo last week at his house for dinner. Take it with a grain of salt but would be amazing if true. Natural Toops replacement. Super keen on him.

Article only came out an hour ago and its subscription only. I dont pay for that rubbish so can't link. I assume it will break across multiple sites soon.

Thoughts? We seem to be aiming for a lot of outside backs. Young is fantastic so I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Tis true, Tartak the manager said so himself. Makes sense. Tupou’s 31/32 and his tall, lanky build is more susceptible to the negatives of age. Wouldn’t be surprised if this year is his last for us, and he makes the trip to the super league

Been advocating for the Roosters to sign him so wait and see what eventuates

Signed a minimum 3 year deal with the Knights after playing only 2 games of Super League. - reportedly 110k in 2021 rising to $115k in 2022 and $120k in 2023

      200 cm ( 6ft 7 ) and 107 kg ( 16 st 12 lb) - 21 currently and 22 in August this year

Only started playing League when 15 - sub 11 seconds over 100 metres - you can't buy speed

Now an international player so his price tag will obviously rise from what the Knights are currently paying him

Every Dom Young Try at the RLWC2021

He is a right Winger so no need to retire Toops

Don't see it happening unless JS goes. We have signed a few outside backs, including that young Kiwi union player. Plus IMO Toops has a few more years unless he has a major injury.

I honestly think Dom Young would solve our backline right wing issues (if JS moves to centre), I would love to see:

              - Teddy
              - Toups
              - Suaalii
              - Manu
              - Young

Then eventually Young becomes our reliable winger like Toups has in past years (once he moves on). The rest would be great for depth coverage and just continual challenges for positions.

We don't know maybe Toops has said 2023 is his last year as this has come out of the blue their interest in Dom Young

Look at me… look at me… it was my idea first!

                  Here we go again.

I do agree he would be a great addition however.

Nah, I reckon they listened to you and think that because you have been advocating for him before anybody else that they decided to have a chat with him.

lol the Thang is like a 5 year old. Must be very unaccomplished in life to need that kind of validation.

                          I love Toops.

But at his age, and with his build/weight there are going to be injury problems....big problems. Players with his build just don't last that long into their 30s, and the signs are already there.

It's unfortunate, but I think he certainly peaked, and before he gets too long in the tooth and is still reasonably fit he should be looking for a couple of year in England to top up the bank account before retirement.

Allan, Paulo, Henare-Schuster and Murphy would all be on pretty small contracts.....and none of these are guaranteed first graders let alone stars

I think Dom Young could be a star with us. He is all class. Hope it's true and we get him
