We must be a decent chance of getting Dom, but he has many suitors.

Gus has been playing lovingly with his hair, Bargearse has been whispering sweet nothings in his ear for Souths and even Bennett is now sending choccies and flowers.

Exactly. I doubt he would be playing at wing for the money he would be demanding.

Apparently, saw Mrs. Robbo in the kitchen busy with preparations and asked what Jamaican. Dinner at Robbo's equals done deal.

A mate of mine works with Buzz and he tells me Nick loves Buzz. Talk all the time. When things end up in Buzz's column its very likely been fed to him from Nick. Buzz loved that Nick took him over to England that year for the WCC. Since then he has been very pro chooks and happy to oblige. I am excited. This looks super promising.

              ---

Newcastle Knights winger Dominic Young had dinner at the home of Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson last week.

A few days earlier his manager Mario Tartak had coffee with Sydney Roosters chairman Nick Politis to officially launch the Roosters’ bid to sign the highly regarded Great Britain Test winger.

We all know Robbo and his billionaire chairmen are hard to beat in player recruitment.

The Dolphins, Gold Coast Titans, Rabbitohs and the Canterbury Bulldogs have all expressed a strong interest in Young but are unlikely to win this five-club tug of war.

This is despite two of the league’s heaviest hitters — Wayne Bennett and Phil Gould — both showing him over their club facilities at Redcliffe and Belmore.

The Roosters have now surged into favouritism if the 21-year-old winger is to leave Newcastle.

Robinson is employing the same tactics he used to lure Brandon Smith to Bondi from the Melbourne Storm.

Dinner at his eastern suburbs home to sell the culture and values of the game’s glamour club.

Young would be a great signing.

Imagine him in the same backline as James Tedesco, Joseph Suaalii and Joey Manu.

Young is in a position where the Knights will offer more money.

And the dreadlocked flyer has become a real personality player and fan favourite at Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium.

Yet at the Roosters he gets the opportunity to win NRL premierships and develop his game under a three-time premiership-winning coach.

Tartak says Young will make a decision in the next week.

“He has a big call to make,” Tartak said. “And he wants it done before the start of the season.

“He’s enjoyed playing his football in Newcastle but there’s a lot of interest and great opportunities that he needs to consider.”

                  - Teddy
                  - Toups
                  - Suaalii
                  - Manu
                  - Young

Then eventually Young becomes our reliable winger like Toups has in past years (once he moves on). The rest would be great for depth coverage and just continual challenges for positions.
                  That’s one awesome backline!!

Maybe because he is at the knights, but I haven’t paid too much attention to him either, and haven’t heard him being a superstar in a terrible knights team, so not sure where the hype has come from, but seems to be a popular choice by many on here. Must be ok.

Article only came out an hour ago and its subscription only. I dont pay for that rubbish so can't link. I assume it will break across multiple sites soon.

Thoughts? We seem to be aiming for a lot of outside backs. Young is fantastic so I'd take him in a heartbeat.
So why quote it if you think it’s rubbish? Seems a bit hypocritical

The bloke has stood out in a pretty poor team and was brilliant in the world cup with better quality players around him. The likes of Bennett, Gould and Robbo are interested in him and that alone would suggest he is way above average.

I do think it is something like this, we seem to be stock piling a lot of young wingers. maybe hope one of the 7 players make a worth while winger?
