Replacement for Toops did someone seriously say?? He's not fit to tie Toops' bootlaces. Super League grade at best, scores some runaway tries against minnows in the world cup and now he's a must buy over here?... good lord.

I just know with that comment you form opinions on 3 minute highlights and don't watch a full game to determine an opinion. He's more than a runaway try player, became much more rounded and stable as the Newcastle season went on in 2022, and has areas that our club would greatly improve and only make him better. You think he'd be having sit down dinners with our greatest coach of all time and managerial meetings with Uncle Nick if he wasn't Roosters standard?

Plays right wing though so not affecting Toops retention and the new signings that are capable of playing Wing were only signed for 1 year.

I don't think Robbo would have him over for the Dinner and Uncle Nick meet with his manager if there wasn't a genuine interest from the Club in signing him

The Bulldogs and Rabbitohs have withdrawn their interest in signing one of the hottest stars on the NRL open market, English flyer Dominic Young.

The off-contract Newcastle winger is in the final stages of deciding his future, with the Roosters emerging as the club that could prize the strapping outside back out of the Hunter.

Canterbury and South Sydney were originally interested in adding Young to their backline in 2024.

However, both clubs have decided to cease all talks with the athletic talent and instead invest within and back their own crop of backline potential.

The Bulldogs currently have outside backs Jake Averillo, Paul Alamoti, Josh Addo-Carr, Jacob Kiraz, Hayze Perham, Braidon Burns and Jayden Okunbor at the club and have already signed Test star Stephen Crichton on a four-year deal from 2024 as well as comeback centre Bronson Xerri.

The Rabbitohs aren’t light on outside back options either with elite NRL talent including Latrell Mitchell, Alex Johnston and Campbell Graham accompanying rising stars Isaiah Tass, Josiah Karapani, Jacob Gagai and Izaac Thompson.

Prior to Christmas, Young, who scored 14 tries in 20 games for a Knights side that ranked second-last for points scored this year, was the focus of extraordinary interest from up to nine NRL clubs including the Roosters, Rabbitohs, Storm, Sharks, Bulldogs, The Dolphins, Titans, Cowboys and Raiders.

At the time, he had the most interest of any player on the open market.

Yet it seems Young will either stay at the Knights, or link with the Roosters after recently having dinner with head coach Trent Robinson

I'm hearing straight swap for Momo in 23, conditional on Robbo getting O'Brian a job at Easts Leagues when the Nighties give him the bullet after about Round 4.

The Knights are reportedly very confident of re-signing him especially with 2 other ESL players signed for 2024 - Kai Pearce-Paul and Will Pryce

Generally teams pull out because they believe a decision has already been made.

I don’t think that would be a factor his decision will come down to money, lifestyle and success we can offer the best in two of those

could be some weight to young coming here. Just because there are no photos of momo training recently with us and there may be a swap going on.
