Regarding blooding new players I think the real problem is Smith's reluctance to drop them or promote others based on form. For example, as much as I like Jake Friend I think if he were to be dropped to Newtown to find some form it could benefit both him and the team. Same as BJ really. Don't get me wrong I am a fan and we know he is not getting quality ball from Anasta. However, if he were to be dropped for say Tagive it may provide him with the necessary motivation to improve and reduce his error rate.

Nonetheless, I stand by my original point. There have been players, are players, and will continue to be players, in our lower grades who deserve a crack at FG over some of the guys that play regularly.

It means we wouldn't lose talent to other clubs, and perhaps that they wouldn't fuuck off to bush footy wasting a fair bit of talent.

Look at guys like Inglis, Folau, Jacob Loko, or even Ken Sio (there are others). All benefited from getting a crack at FG. I think Moga would too. Perhaps not this week, but definitely this year. Nowhere am I calling for him to come into the team immediately. In fact, I watched the 20s game last week, and to be honest I didn't think any backs were ready for FG (RTS is a year off).

All I'm concerned about is us stifling Moga and him going elsewhere for an opportunity in FG. Given that we often have to play backrowers out of position in the centres, it seems odd that we don't give him a shot.

What about BJ? And how's that working out for you Freddy & Fred? One of the most criticised players on here, in the squad, perhaps Smitty should've held off blooding BJ too??

Since when has that meant anything? SKD is consistently bagged on here, yet he is the only player in our team who is a genuine strike weapon. Pearce is relentlessly given shit, yet he's one of our best week in, week out, while carrying Braith. Most of what is said on here swings like a rusty gate...

In fact, I reckon Leilua is doing pretty bloody well for a 20 year old backrower being forced to carry Carney in defence on our own line (covering the high ball) and playing out on the wing. He consistently tops our tackle breaks with SKD, has a good offload and loves the physical stuff. He would kill it if he had some support players and was closer to the action. I like what the club has done with him, except for the position they've played him in. I like what they did with SKD.

I just hope Moga is given the same faith.

Aren't Pearce, SKiD, BJ, Pezzdispenser and Mini all blokes in our current backline we debuted young and persisted with???

I can't for the life of me remember anyone, except maybe Jimmy Coward, actually doing this in recent memory. I cant think of many who have really made it big???

Sure there's been Hannent and FatHodgo but in all reality they wanted to go home and it wasn't from lack of them getting game time in the top grade.
